I ask again, can someone please explain what that stuff in the tweets means?

That's what I think this extra-time is all about, Berman is going to rip the nfl a new one.

It's simply not right to use civil and federal courts to solve sports leagues problems. And this is becoming quite regular. There's precedence and the NFL lost all of them.

This is not real world, I mean it is, it moves a lot of money, it's a business, but sports are complementary to a society. The league is a private organization and although it is a game of public interest, it should be ruled by their own rules, as long as it is fair, and that's the genesis of this issue, the NFL is simply flat out biased and acting in bad faith to manipulate the game, and using a federal court in the process. Berman is going to put and end on this in a fashionable way.

For the people who is going to argue that the NFLPA is also using the courts, what else can Brady do? He is losing a couple million dollars and reputation here. There's nothing to settle, he is being accused of something out of nothing, what can he give in a settlement?
Pls see my highlight above.
The league is a "private organization" only to a certain degree. It enjoys the massive financial benefit of an anti-trust exemption. It is proper to hold it to a higher standard than a privately owned corporation.

The delay is not helping, only causing more pats fans to think berman is writing some rip of NFL and doing an airtight ruling maybe for brady. Raising all hopes which maybe false.
Iam only just cautiously optimistic but wont be surprised at all if the ruling is for the NFL with a 50 page bashing of their techniques and methods.

I think he's saying that all is quiet right now, but soon a huge flurry of activity is gonna start:

-ruling
-requests for stays/injunctions from Berman
-filing appeal
-legal briefs accompanying the appeal
- requests for stay/injunction from the second circuit

And all this in the next 48 hrs.

This about sums up my feelings on day 3.

I haven't been refreshing pages and using Google so much since the Hernandez verdict....hurry up!

Prepare for the worse guys so we can't be letdown any further and can't go anywhere but up. Suspension upheld, no appeal, Brady arrested for screaming so loud out of anger he burst some innocent bystanders eardrums.

The NFL is insane if they appeal on a loss. This thing needs to die.

I know it doesn't matter and this will likely get removed. I'm ready for this to be over too. I'd rather beat the pats straight up, no excuses. This was way overblown and the nfl should be embarrassed. I'm reluctant to give Brady credit, not because I don't think he's good but because I think Belichick is the GOAT. Regardless, I want the Colts to win with Luck and multiple times but not like this. So with that said, I hope it's over after the ruling and I hope you all lose but in the right way for the right reasons. Anyway for the 99% of you that are great fans, aka not threatening to hurt Godell, notifying the FBI , or blaming Dungy for a personal tragedy, I say good luck and congratulations on the unprecedented success. Just know, history won't look back on the number of Super Bowls poorly and it will be meaningingful.

You'll be able to tell your grandkids a great story so enjoy the success.
Wait you realize Brady will be back for that game regardless right?

Funny, I wasn't interested in that at all.

Anyway, just wanted to say I suddenly had this very strong feeling that the decision is coming very soon. Of course, the way things have been going that probably means another week.

There is no reason for that media whore Berman not to make HIS decision TODAY!
I assume you're being sarcastic, but, just in case you are serious, there is no way in which Richard Berman can be described in those terms. As BB would say, he is just "doing his job," a job that usually takes weeks or months to complete, in a few days. He has, to my knowledge, been photographed once during this entire ordeal and I am virtually certain never wanted this case in his courtroom.

To me it was like a car crash...also felt I wanted to see justice done...as for the second part, I know what you mean.

I see Reiss is having a chat at noon. Crap always seems to break during/right after his chats, so it'll probably drop in 2-3 hours.

I posted this late last night in yesterday's thread, which has now been closed. Since nothing seems to be happening this morning, I thought I'd post it again.

A little perspective here, as others have observed.

It's almost unheard of for a Federal Judge to issue a Ruling in the same week that the proceedings in the Courtroom conclude. Typically, it takes weeks...or longer.

As for whether we should be encouraged or depressed that he has now taken three days (not weeks or months, but days), I've been among those who have posted that the longer it takes the more hopeful it is for our side, since a ruling to Uphold the Arbiter's ruling would be more straightforward and less open to challenge on Appeal than a ruling to Vacate.

But that's what I hope...not what I know or could possibly know. If your perspective as the Judge is that "I'm issuing the ruling in a few days instead of a few weeks, or longer," then there's really no way of knowing what's going on.

The other thing we shouldn't forget is something I haven't seen pointed out elsewhere: Richard Berman has been a Federal Judge for 16 or so years. During that time, he has toiled in relative obscurity, unknown to all but members of the community of those who breathe the thin air of the highest levels of the US Justice System, just short of the Supreme Court.

As a Federal Judge, Richard Berman has issued hundreds of Rulings.

Now, towards the end of his career, he is about to issue a Ruling that will be read by a thousand or so times more people than those who have read all of his prior Rulings combined. This is how a career of 50 years will be defined. No matter how he rules, Judge Berman will want to be sure that he has dotted all his i's and crossed all his t's.

Books will be written about this proceeding and Brady v. Goodell will be taught in Law Schools as a case for decades to come. He wants to be sure that every word of his Ruling is crafted to say exactly what he wants it to say.
