I think the NFL is currently using the USGA as a model.
Or this:

What was your "defense" going to be prior to the events of yesterday? "But..but..we're not cheaters, and I can prove it, because our owner filed a futile appeal that was quickly shot down by the commissioner?"

Look, I get it--Kraft acted as though he was considering an appeal and then changed his mind under the pressure of other owners. That sucks, but it isn't like you were going to have much of a defense either way.

If the owner won't fight for the team, neither will I.

My defense before is well documented, the team didn't cheat, here are the facts that prove it. Now? "Yeah i guess your right, we did cheat, you don't take that kind of punishment if you are innocent."

Seriously, we've seen this forum get twisted upside down before like during the KC game, but nothing like this. Optimism of any kind is ridiculed and Pessimism is being very positively received.

Not trying to make any point of it being good or bad, but its notable how it's normally been the polar opposite over the years here.

Well I think it's a natural response. We're all die hards which is why we participate on a football forum during the off season lol!

We just got our hearts ripped out of our chests and stomped on, so right now people are emotionally dealing with this abomination of a scandal, and the natural emotional reaction is going to be anger and contempt.

Give it a few weeks, after Brady's appeal is completed and the focus goes back to mini camps and football related topics rather than a media driven agenda to humiliate the Patriots and their fan base publicly.

At least from my perspective, I am not displaying pessimism. I'm displaying disgust. I am still behind the real patriots In this organization; belichick, all the players and staff, the volunteers, the cheerleaders, the fans etc.

I still hope for the team to win the next Super Bowl and run up the score on every team it faces. I still want our players to let their play do the talking.

But as a fan, I have every right to disagree with what ownership is doing and let it be known. This is just not right.

Especially the cheerleaders!

If you're innocent, you're innocent and you fight the accusations with every resource you have.

Kraft essentially took a giant whiz on our 4 Super Bowl trophies, BB and TB's legacies.
so he wouldn't piss off the old boys club. He put his own interests ahead of the reputation of the team.

For this, I will never forgive him.

I think your defense was falling on deaf ears outside of NE, chasa. No one gave a **** about the defense of spygate, and this wasn't going to be any different.

I'm disappointed in Kraft just like you are, so I can appreciate your position. I just don't see the relationship for how it would've changed much. The fix was already in from day one. I would've liked to see him sleepwalk through the appeals process, though, even if it wouldn't have mattered.

Forget the haters. Sup, you need to consider the effect that this has on fan base. The biggest blow was towards the fans, being misled by their owner that he would somehow stick up for the team

National people like Florio had done a 180. The notion that the defense was falling on deaf ears outside of New England is simply nowhere near correct.
