I think that's something that heavily bothers many of us about this whole thing, that this will make the haters flow in further. While many no longer care, many still do care.

Let's face it guys, in the public eye we are the 70's era Raiders of this generation. We're not liked. We might skirt rules from time to time. But you know what? Who gives a flying ****. We're still the best in the league. Regardless of if Bradys innocent or not the wrongdoing was very miniscule in the first place if there was any. So If they suspend Brady a good amount of time? Let Jimmy man the fort and give us a glimpse of the future, we'll be fine. You don't take down the 'evil' empire that easily. Goodell and his little briefcase, suit wearing primative ****heads that support him can do their worst. We'll just come out better than before.

Did we ever have a good guy rep? LOL
BB conveys no good guy for anyone but us!
And TFB - the ultimate American male - has just lost his innocence nationally. (Has anyone noticed he hasn't come out and explicitly denied it since the report was released?)

It's fine. Eff them all, let's keep winning banners. We are all BB now.

I like my team just the way it is.

I'll bet you, and win, that TFB hasn't responded to any of this because he's been told by his attorney(s) and agent NOT to. There's (more probably than not) a ton of things he wants to say, but he's been given top-notch advise here (remain silent) and I support that. Do NOT speak about these things without the advice of counsel. It's just like talking to the cops. NEVER tell them anything but your name unless you have the advice of counsel.

Concur. A strong, smart, physical team full of professionals and good guys. Yeah, every now and then some shmuck gets in, but under Kraft's ownership and Belichick's tutelage, it's been the exception. Unlike, say, Cleveland or Cincy, etc.

The current image is just fine with me.

Brady hasn't come out and said anything publicly because he is probably "lawyering" up and conferring with his agent about the best possible strategy. I wouldn't expect anything less from him. Do you expect him to start shooting off his mouth like so many other $.10 cent headed athletes that go down in flames. If anything, this is what I want him to do and gotten used to every Sunday. Brady is meticulously prepared and has a sure-fire game plan. Do you expect anything less from the greatest QB to ever play in the NFL?

Not to mention that his supermodel wife turned clothing industry millionaire is no dummy herself. She probably has some fairly slick and savvy lawyers and PR people chiming in as well. This is the last couple that Goodell could ever want to phuck with. I'm totally serious by the way.

We have the cheater image without actually cheating. Paying for your cake and not even getting a lick of the frosting.

And THAT is what truly stinks.

We were the good guys perhaps through 2003 ... after that definitely not IMO

You were more generous than me LOL.
Well, 01 the team was Cinderella. 02 was ok. After 03 Polian *****ed about defensive holding but whatever. 04 was fine. 05 was fine. 06 was fine LT *****ed but really had no impact.

07 is when IMO it really came down. Not just Spygate but going for TDs when they were up 40 with 2:23 to go rubbed the average fan/idiot the wrong way.

I think when we signed Corey Dillon that's when it started to shift ...
Not that I'm complaining ... :D:D:D

Yea trading for player that was convicted for spousal abuse wasn't a perfect fit to ensure that a squeaky clean image was maintained but as we have become to learn, he certainly wasn't the only one doing it, sadly.

The spousal abuse situation for Dillon came 3 years after he was out of football. And he was never convicted.

Happened in 2000 as well.

In their report, police who responded to a domestic violence call in Federal Way, Wash., in August of 2000 found Desiree Dillon bleeding from the mouth. She said she was driving a car when Dillon hit her. Dillon responded that he was defending himself by covering his face with his hands.

On Thursday, Dillon said: "I really just wish it never happened, but things happen. Things were done and stuff happened. Anytime you're involved in a situation like that, someone is going to take the heat and I took the heat. At the end of the year, it will be off the record and a closed case. I thought everything was unfair. Life is unfair."

Agreed. I live outside of New England now, and 03 was when it started to turn. 01 was fine - they were the Cinderella team and it was their first superbowl win. After winning the superbowl in 03 there were signs of resentment. Evidently winning 2 superbowls in 3 years is too much. Then after winning it again in 04 the resentment and backlash really began. If they had only won the 01 superbowl and then not made it to any more superbowls after that I truly believe that spygate would not have turned into anywhere near the witchhunt that it became.
