Bills trade for LeSean McCoy + Matt Cassel

Cassel + Lesean = 15m cap hit. That should help us.

Do you guys know what they traded? A 7th?

I don't think we beat Seattle if we don't have that game against the Ravens.

I agree, when they came back from 14 twice I was telling friends that's the kind of thing that defines championship seasons. I had nothing but confidence after that game.

McCoy is being dragged to Buffalo kicking and screaming and Cassel is coming back from a broken foot which those sometimes can be tricky and susceptible to being re-injured.

But yep Buffalo is already in the lead to win the off-season SB. Still missing 3 starters on defense though

BTW the Pats just won the actual SB a month ago not that you cared given what your shtick is on here.

Cassel's thrown 4 more picks than touchdowns since the start of 2011 and has one season with a completion percentage north of 60% (and even then, just by a sliver). By contrast, the Bills starting QB last year completed 64% of his passes for 18 TDs and 10 picks. While I understand the excitement over McCoy, I'm not sure how this is an upgrade over last year's QB situation.

I think we will take care of them. They look like an interesting 10-6/11-5 type team though.

@AdamSchefter: So Buffalo is planning to go with Matt Cassel at QB and LeSean McCoy at RB, and play lights-out D.

The AFC is crap and that type of team could beat Indy/Pitt/Den.
Bills will be 7-9, maybe 8-8. Remember where you heard that.

Bills gave up a 2015 5th and 7th. Vikings give up 2015 6th

Dont think Manuel is the answer for Buffalo. Cassel will cost around $5M which is probably the going rate for a vet QB thats borderline starter. They are probably looking for a true game manger since they won't be able to draft a QB and free agent market isn't all that. Looks like Jets formula from a few years ago. Run control offense that relies on a really good defense to keep them in the game.

Paving the way for Sanchez to come in under the radar. Cassel has a noodle arm and is a slow decision maker.

Bills will add Sanchez when he is cut after the Eagles draft Mariota.

Bills gave up a 2015 5th and 7th. Vikings give up 2015 6th

Alex Marvez says that the 5th is the pick that was originally owned by Tampa (they traded to Bills in last year's draft). That's the first pick of the round. Not that it's a big difference so late in the draft, of course.

The deal is Cassel and a 2015 6th round pick for a 2015 5th round pick and a 2016 7th round pick.

. @buffalobills swap their 1st 2015 5th-round pick for @Vikings 2015 6th-rounder and give Min a 2016 7th-rounder for Matt Cassel

#s: Original contract was tweaked. Now slated to earn $4.75M total in '15. $4.15M base, $500K roster/$100K workout bonus

Matt Cassel's salary in 2015 is $500K below the $5.25M guaranteed for @Browns QB Josh McCown this season.

Free agency hasn't even started, and the Bills have already upgraded at QB and WR, for the price of a player that never saw the field and draft picks that (barring sheer luck) would not have yielded a QB of Cassel's worth. And Cassel will cost less against the cap than Orton did. They also added Incognito, who's a definite upgrade if he hasn't lost his game while sitting out last year.

Good start for that group up there.

well there goes the bills shot at being competitive in the east lol

How many times are you going post this?

To be honest Mark Sanchez had a good season in Philly, ok he crapped the bad in the end as usual, but I don't think they would be a playoff team anyway.

I think Rex can't bring Sanchez though, it would make too much noise, I don't even know if he ever thought about that, but it can't happen. The first pick 6 and Rex tenure in Buffalo would be in check.

Giving away 2 picks considering they don't have their 1st + Cassell's cap hit, I don't think that was a smart move.

They didn't give away 2 picks, if Marvez is accurate:

They swapped a 5th this year for a 6th this year
They gave away a 7th next year

Its really only a trade down this year and a 7th next year but I don't think cassell is a good QB but still better then what they got
