2/9/2015 MMQB- Great Insight From Brady/McD on the 4th Quarter

Good read. I really like the MMQB pieces on Mondays but I don't like Peter King otherwise... As others have noted, Belichick isn't quoted; this is because Bill has told King he will no longer speak to him a few years ago after King said some things he didn't like about Crygate. So that tells you what kind of guy he is, when Bill won't give him the time of day.

But otherwise, this is a pretty good piece. I like the Brady quotes specifically. Reading about Julian being Tom's last option on that third down play made me feel physically nauseous, lol.

Peter had a meeting with some SI execs the other day about redoing his contract. Here is how it went.

Also, I read somewhere this week that in the 2014 season Lynch had 5 carries from the 1 yard line.

TDs? 1.
....and only one successful play. Not only that, on the Seahawk FG drive, Seattle ran Lynch on a 3rd and relatively short and he didn't make it.

Despite the prevailing perception, the Pats handled Lynch fairly well. Take away the one 15 yd run he had when Seattle caught the Pats in a cross blitz and Collins (I think() overran the play. Take out that one and he averaged only 3.7ypc. That's far from the impression that the mediots left that Lynch was "virtually unstoppable". That's not to take away anything from Lynch who ran as hard as advertised, but it wasn't a case of the Pats running game vs the Colts, and that's what its made out to seem.

Somehow some of the media wants this game to be about Seattle losing it, rather than the Pats winning it. To that end they want to ignore the miracle Kearse catch, and the fact the Pats took the ball away from Seattle. This wasn't like a fumbled hand off, or an overthrown pass. THOSE would be plays that would deserve the description of "Seattle losing the game". This was the case of a reasonable call given the defense against it. A good play against that defense, and a decent throw and route. This was a case where the Pats out executed the Seahawks and MADE the play....and WON the game

Monday Morning QB column by P King on the last 2 drives of the SB from TFB and McD's perspective.

Great read.

Pete gets his ego out of the way early,
look how great I am, I got an hour long interview with TB and time alone w JM immediately after the game......

"I spoke to Brady for an hour the other day, to get his play-by-play on the last two drives. And I spoke to McDaniels alone at length in the crazy post-game scrum. This is their story. It has a Spielberg twist on the final play that just makes it better. Perfect, in fact."

Peter King goes against us on deflategate and know that we won jumps ship and joins the bandwagon. No thanks Peter

And you know the fat turd will be knifing us once the report comes out. He's such a sanctimonious tool.

You watch - if Goodell only fines us the fat turd will be whining that Goodell should have taken away draft choices.

Again, I really wish Brady didn't give this jerk the interview. Give it to someone who didn't jump on the "NE cheated! Burn the witch!" bandwagon.

In this piece there is little mention of THE Key fact.

Belichick and his crew of Coaches were superior. They had analyzed the simplistic Hawks offense, and even instructed their players how to defend correctly, re-running the Hawks plays repeatedly, until the Defense was fully understood. This is superior "preparation".

Arians won COY. BB deserves it!

One of the key plays of the game was Brady's 3rd and 15 pass to Edelman. Brady's comments about the coverage and Julian being his last option made me realize how close they came to 4th and 15.

At the same time credit Brady for going thru his progressions. Lots of QB's would have just high tailed it and ran after the 1st or 2nd read wasn't there.

Winner.

That the #53 guy on a 53 man roster - - an undrafted community college rookie FA from West Alabama can come in and, in the most pressured situation in American sports, make the correct read (and tell later that the coaching staff had worked hard with him on this one play!) is FINAL TESTAMENT that the New England Patriots are the best coached organization in sports.

No one is even close to second place.

Bringing my comment from the other thread on this article....

I noticed this as well on one of several times watching the game replay. Even though Amendola is right there and no one else is an immediate threat, Thomas runs up next to Danny and then just stops, apparently choosing to sit in the zone over playing the only receiver in the area. Had he just kept going he would have been in perfect position for the pick.
I think NFL turning pt or somewhere , after the TD, they showed the seattle sidelines and Chancellor is asking Thomas "He throws funny doesnt he?The ball comes out funny ?" or something like that to which thomas says he was blocked/blinded by the linemen in front of him and didnt see the ball coming out.

Wonderful read. Thanks for posting!

Excellent piece, full of revelations.

I dislike Peter King -- I think he's a self-important blowhard -- but you need Peter King-style access for a story like that.

In all of the insight, the thing I thought most interesting was the stuff about throwing with confidence in one's decisions -- how doubts will cause bad throws. Makes me all the keener to see TFB in the hurry-up next season. (Still, can't complain about the outcome of this one.)

$100 says ole' Tom got lucky Tuesday morning....

Brady: “I had a nice moment with my wife Tuesday morning. Monday was taken up with getting home, and I finally had a chance to sleep Monday night … We woke up Tuesday, and, now, she’s woken up twice next to me after Super Bowl losses, and [for those] I was like, ‘The game’s today, right? What I just had was a nightmare, right? That didn’t really happen, right?’ And this time, I just looked at her and it was, it was …”

Pause. Three, four seconds.

Me: “What happened? What’d you say?”

Brady: “It was just special. Just pretty special.”

Good article. King should write more articles where he shuts the **** up and Brady and McD make up the entire text.

King could rise above a lot of the muck that has been around lately. I would like to see him do a big cheating article and get all that crap out of the closet.

I always like reading articles with the "thought process" around important, game changing drives. I look forward to Belichick's breakdowns of the game(presuming he does them).

Never gonna happen. He won't write anything the NFL doesn't want him to write. His entire career is being a shill.
