I apologize ppl after doing my research about stickum! The NFL banned this in 1981. All players did it! #equalplayingfield

Wouldn't stickum from the receiver's gloves rub off on the football with every catch and make it progressively stickier and easier for the quarterback to grip? To say nothing of how many footballs Jerry caught for Montana.

Sometimes when you throw stones, one slips out of your hand and breaks several of the glass walls in your own house.

Note: For the record I consider stickum to be a non-issue just as I consider deflated footballs to be a non-issue. But the hypocrisy is deliciously amusing.

Don't the WRs just wear gloves with rubber on them now anyways?

The old "everyone did it" excuse eh ....Let's see how selectively that flies
The "everyone did it" argument is a tough one. They needed to be treated case-by-case.

Blown/deflated balls, stick-ums, etc are rules. Are they bendable? Maybe it's a tribal rule and part of the NFL sub-culture. I don't know.

We all heard BB say that (other teams taping the sidelines) during his presser on DFG as it was accurate. Everyone taped signals. The issue is that the NFL Game Day ops says you can do it- but not use it on game day. BB exercised that loop hole and in addition, felt a "memo" saying that there was no taping was the override for the Gameday ops manual was BS. He stood his ground vs Goody's arbitrary exacting of rules without process and got killed. Thats the untold story. When people say that, it comes across as whiney... I guess so but as I said each circumstance is different.

The non-apology apology. I wonder if he was being coached by Brian Williams and Dan Rather.
