Here's a counterargument that I'm not sure many have considered:

- Brady likes 12.5
- Why would Brady request 11.5?
- Oh because it was wet and cold? Oh okay... But I thought the ball was the QB's livelihood, and the slightest change of ball standards to that QB would disrupt his game? So wouldn't Tom prefer using 12.5 because that is his standard? If 1.0 psi of pressure difference is noticeable like you say it is, wouldn't that be drastically different than what Brady is used to and therefore disrupt his game?
- Oh so you're saying maybe Brady always uses under inflated balls and just now it has been caught? Again, if it's that noticeable surely a referee would have noticed it years ago.

underinflated vs. deflated

there is a difference. the league is using the term 'underinflated'. deflated would imply that they are accusing the Patriots of removing air. 'underinflated' likely places fault on either the refs, the weather, or both. i do not think the team will face any repercussions, whatsoever...however, the media witch hunt has been very damaging. i hope it pisses off the Patriots players as much as it pisses off me...because i am fired up and want the Patriots to roll over seattle. i hope they can use it as motivation rather than let it become a distraction. i have a lot of faith that it will be the former. GO PATS!!!

There is some humor in the fact that this post was written by "Leakey1."

Remember when we filed tampering charges aginst the Jets about midday monday? I'll bet the Jest are quite happy about all of this. Hmmmmm...........

Sounds like the NFL has a whole lot of nothing. I'm personally not worried anymore about any discipline at all, at most there will be a small fine IMO.

The media will be pissed even though they did it to themselves. This is what happens when you guys chase your own tails for a week. Sources! Sources! Sources! We have sources! Oops, our sources were either a coke head or just didn't exist. CHEATERS THO!!!

Pats are gonna roll. I liked Big Vince's press conference a lot. He told them straight up, "you aren't gonna take this from us." He's gonna help keep the D's mind right. Imagine if Seattle got embarrassed 43-7 like they just did themselves to Denver last year? How sweet would it be?

On NFL network the dude just referred to the investigation as "being investigated for under-inflating balls" Ummmm the THE REFS APPROVED THE BALLS!!! They can't think we are that stupid that we wont pick up on them changing what the hell they are supposed to be reviewing right?
Agreed. It is the responsibility of the refs to insure the balls are properly inflated. The Pats could give them totally flat balls, and the refs would need to inflate them to the proper pressure. If the balls were underinflated (as it seems they were) the blame falls solely and squarely on the refs

LOL, I'm imagining a scenario in which the NFL comes out and says "no punishment for Pats, also Jets swap 2nd round pick with Pats for tampering." The media would probably lose their minds (if any still have them).

Not even the NFL is dumb enough to ruin their biggest event with a sting operation during the AFC title game. I have no doubt that the refs DID NOT inspect those balls with a gauge pre-game and then the Colts tried a little gamesmanship at halftime which goes no where if not for Irsay opening his drunk mouth. Now the league has to figure out a way to not look like assholes by saying their refs don't follow the rules in a playoff year where ref calls have been majorly called into question and in a terrible PR year. The fact that it's the Patriots doesn't help them because people want blood regardless of guilt.

The fact that Brady and Belichick flat out denied it and Kraft released that statement about integrity tells me that there was no deflating of the balls by the staff. There's just no way they put their careers and reputations on the chopping block like that if they're lying.

I believe this. This is why I have been questioning the media for not questioning the officials about this matter. I believe Brady's balls may have always been somewhat deflated throughout his career, but the refs were half-assing through ball inspections, expecting the balls to be up to league standards, instead of DOING THEIR JOBS and confirming the pressure with the pressure gauge. No-one in their right minds, would throw Brady out there to the wolves(media) yesterday to answer so many questions freely, if they felt he had something to hide. I do believe psi was the last thing on his mind, in fact, he probably didn't know the league minimum, until Tuesday. The problem is, once people find out that it was the ref's doing, they will start speculating about refs betting on games or assisting the Patriots to victories and then this will get a whole lot worse than it is.

Kraft knows sacrificing his team will save or protect the NFL and its (including Kraft's) billions, if Goodell doesn't come up with a satisfactory solution, his team may wind up taking the hit.

A setup by the Colts starting from the first game.

Colts inform League in first game of under inflated balls, though they don't press hard on it. They just mention the possibility. The seed has been planted.

Colts win against Bengals and Broncos and meet N.E. in the AFC Championship. Time to bring the seed to fruition.

Colts inflated their balls outside, or a cold room inside, at cold temps before inspection at 13.5 PSI. Hand them to refs to inspect. Balls pass the test and given to the Ball Boy.

Pats inflated balls inside at room temps or higher at 12.5 PSI. Hand them to refs to inspect. Balls pass the test and given to the Ball Boy.

Ball Boys take balls outside in cold weather.

The cold weather begins affecting the Pats balls due to indoor room temp inflation. Colts balls relatively unaffected throughout the game due to inflating the balls in cold temps.

Colts inform the refs that Pats balls under inflated.

Refs test both Colts and Patriots balls. Colts balls are within PSI limits. Pats balls under PSI limits. Balls are replaced and proper balls played throughout.

Colts contact league to push for cheating scandal.

The framing of the Pats has succeeded.

Unless the Colts were desperate, I can't imagine them getting all scientific and stuff about ball deflation or inflation to frame the Patriots. I'm not even sure if the Colts intentionally put this out for the media. They informed the ref about a ball and the refs did mid-game inspections, maybe Kravitiz noticed this, spoke to an official and wrote some little story about nothing. Because it's the Patriots this crap goes mainstream. The NFL waits for it to die down, since it's much to do about nothing, it gets worse and now the NFL is forced to investigate this case, because it's grabbing more headlines than the SB.

A scientist who is a ravens fan explains deflategate as a huge misunderstanding.

Colts play in a climate controlled dome, they are from a science denying area and the science behind it is Gay-Lussac's Law and those folks from Indy are almost 100% against any gay laws.

Perfectly put.;)

Does anyone doubt that Jim Irsay was the start of this whole sh*tshow? I sure don't.

Well..someone must have told him somethig...he wouldnt now jack about PSIs. Maybe and old ex-pat personnel?

Hernandez's trial might not be much of a distraction this week. The media, for the most part, hardly associates him with the team anymore. Unless something big happens during his trial, such as him admitting that Brady liked his balls under the league minimum or he confirms that piece in Rolling Stone about Belichick being aware of his situation as the truth, it probably won't be mentioned.
