Pats Dodge a Bullet: Darius Fleming Clears Waivers and Signs Back on PS

Amen! The Vikings' opening touchdown drive was mostly just throwing to Skinner's assignment. I remember one play when Mayo lined up to Skinner's left pre-snap, the TE comes from the left across the middle to catch the ball. Not only did Skinner not get close to covering the TE, but Mayo had to come from further away to make the tackle, with Skinner still 5 yards behind. He looked lost and slow.
Was Skinner blitzing on that play?

Not sure what happened there as he was supposed to be a coverage specialist and had a huge amount of tackles for Chicago last year...
What happened is he sucked and couldn't tackle during the preseason.

I can promise you that if one of James Morris or Cameron Gordon were healthy we wouldn't have Skinner on the team.

I'm not sure "dodged a bullet" is the right term here. That implies that clearly Flemming is good enough to demand a spot on a 53 man roster, and all the other teams are just too stupid to see it or weren't paying attention. It's far more likely that, at this stage of his career, Flemming has no real value to anyone but the Patriots.

I suggest thinking about it for a day or two. The answer will come to you.

I wasn't looking for a smug response.

He's better than skinner, but "dodging a bullet" makes it sound as if he' going to be a stud linebacker.

He looked pretty bad in pre season.

Pretty bad, yes, but still worlds better than Deonte Skinner. And I take preseason with a grain of salt anyway.

Skinner makes Brandon Spikes look fast in comparison.
