Legit playoff game tonight for the ravens and steelers... Loser goes home. Who do we want to win that game.

The thought of either the ravens or the steelers in the playoffs scare me

I want a tie.

Playoff Picture & Potential Matchups

Of the potential teams who could make the Playoffs I don't fear these teams for the following reasons.

Bengals- No Geno Atkins, with Gronk (knock on wood) , in NE and Marvin Lewis won't make adjustments.

Indy - No Reggie Wayne and a dome team in NE.

Miami - Offensive line issues and in NE.

Tenn - Least likely to make it but they just lack all over.

KC - Bill will take away the run and even in KC not enough fire power.

Chargers - Not a good road team and they hurt themselves in the end.

Slight fear

Jets - Only because of their defensive front and they've played the Pats tough twice. They are a different team on the road but a couple of turnovers and you never know.

Moderate fear

Broncos - If its in Denver and they get the right weather you never know.

I want no part of them

Ravens - They're starting to look like the Giants of 07 and 11 and they just give the Pats fits. At 6-6 they own tie breakers against most of the other contenders. They do have a rough schedule with Minn, @DET, NE, @Cinn. They also play DET on MNF giving them a short week against us. I'd like to see Cinn lose a few games so that they need that last game to beat out Baltimore for the division and that also kicks the Ravens out of the WC. I can see Baltimore as the 6 seed going into Indy or Cinn and winning. They do have a 5-1 home and 1-5 road record. That game against them is doubly important to try and get the #1 seed but equally important to keep them out.

The pats can beat any team in this league, anywhere. The problem is our mental mistakes and turning the ball over. Otherwise, I believe this team can beat anyone, they have that mental toughness and the team is that good.

Re: Playoff Picture & Potential Matchups

With a healthy DRC, Champ, and Julius Thomas, the Broncos are going to be a major concern, whether at home or on the road. I would also prefer to avoid NYJ and BALT as they are the kinds of defenses that have shut us down in the playoffs.

I didn't say they couldn't win just that I'd rather not face the Ravens. I can see Flacco throwing a couple of jump balls like he always does and that DLine beating our Oline.

They would also be down Vickerson which really hurts them and aids our Oline a lot.

We haven't played that well on the road. We can beat any team in the league (if we don't sustain any more injuries from here on).

As for beating any team in the LEAGUE.... I don't know about that. Seahawks are for real if you ask me.

Re: Playoff Picture & Potential Matchups

How do you feel about this scenario ;
1) KC
2) NE
3) Cinn
4) Indy
5) Denver
6) Balt
Wild Card weekend
Balt @ Cinn Balt wins
Denver @ Indy Denver wins

Div Round
Balt @ KC Balt wins
Denver @ NE NE wins

Championship game would have Balt @ NE again....

Not happening. Chiefs will be #5, Donkeys #1, AFCCG will be held in Denver (assuming donkeys win the divisional round).

Re: Playoff Picture & Potential Matchups

Balt won't make it far even if they make playoffs. Their O is not what it was last year ( one of the worst in the league )....ray rice runs for about .4 every run.

You can't win without a decent or great O. Balts was decent last year

We haven't played that well on the road. We can beat any team in the league (if we don't sustain any more injuries from here on).

Seattle idk. Now for our 3 losses, 2 have the same thing in common, and 1 was a combo of injuries and weather.

The last 2 losses, NFL has come out and said 2 calls should have been made, and they give us a couple shots inside the 10 against the jets if that penalty is called. In Carolina, yeah you know, bet we win that one. Bet we win 1 or both of those games.

Cincy: no gronk, hobbled amendola and we get the ball when its a down pour. The thing I heard collinsworth say, you can't judge this pats team now, because they are still growing together and getting better. We haven't played our best football and we haven't fielded all our starters, yet we beat NO and Denver? This team can beat anyone, especially when gronk is out there.

Bottom line, before our eyes, this team is quickly developing into a unstoppable force on offense, and the defense just held the best offense to 24pts. Even without all its starters healthy!! This team is dangerous, and that's not homerism. The only thing that's held us back are our own mistakes. Clean that up, I wouldn't bet against the pats. Underrated and under the radar coming into the playoffs.

Re: Playoff Picture & Potential Matchups

Without Boldin, the Ravens offense plays right into our D's strength. It's essentially a bombs away offense with Smith and Jones running streaks all day. With our two deep safety look, I feel we could shut down that O.

I do give Ozzie props (besides Flacco deal). He had to completely blow up the Ravens and is still fielding a decent 6-6 team that still has a shot at the division.

Re: Playoff Picture & Potential Matchups

I expect the seedings to go like this:
1)Broncos
2) Patriots
3) Bengals
4) Colts
5) Chiefs
6) Ravens

In the divisional round I would rather face the following teams in order (assuming these teams make it):
1) Bengals - With no Geno Atkins and an average QB on the road i don't think they'll keep up with us.
2) Colts - average defense, offense has no WRs with separation after the Wayne and Allen injuries. I do fear them a bit because Luck is amazing
3) Ravens - Different team with no running game this year. But, defense is playing good since week 1 and they know how to win.
4) Chiefs - Excellent defense, great run game and a QB who doesn't turn over the ball often. They have the Ravens recipe of years past for winning in the playoffs

Re: Playoff Picture & Potential Matchups

As far as I know, the last time the Patriots lost a playoff game in which they were under dogs was Indy in 2006 AFFCG.

All those losses as favorites since - that would be every year starting in 07 and excluding 08 when the didn't make it - the Patriots lost because they themselves didn't play well, turnovers, missed forced turnovers, one drop in particular, and in some cases, yes, Brady himself.

So they should just worry about themselves. Ridley not fumbling and re-emerging as a fringe top 10 back in this league and Amendola not being injured being the two biggest risk points.

Whoever the opponent is really is immaterial. We got Balt at home last year which was a big break instead of on the road to Denver and blew it. We got 5 and 6 seeds in the superbowls and blew it. We got Jets and Baltimore at home and blew those, the former off a bye week.

And who cares about Seattle or the Saints in Jersey in February. That would be delightful.

Re: Playoff Picture & Potential Matchups

I'm not loving the Ravens myself. This isn't as much about matchups as it is about organizational grit. It's the element some of these other franchises don't have. Harbaugh knows how to dial it up, motivate, play physical and get his team to focus in the post season. He knows the intricacies of playoff football. I feel the same way about Flacco. The guy has a goofy non chalant way about him at times, but I just get this sense that he's learned what playoff football is all about from the environment he sits in and is a gamer when it counts. I fthis Baltimore team goes on a run down the stretch and gets hot going into the playoffs after the hangover, they'd scare me. The Ravens are also playing with a little bit of house money this year coming off a super bowl.

The Marvin Lewis', Peyton Manning's, KC's, dome teams on the road don't have that edge in January.

They couldn't play the Ravens in the divisional round with those seedings. If the 6 seed wins they automatically play the 1 seed.

I can see the seeds being that however and I can also see it being Chiefs vs Pats and a Ravens vs Broncos rematch. Peyton might pucker again setting up Pats and Ravens and I wouldn't be over confident given the history of the matchup.

Re: Playoff Picture & Potential Matchups

Baltimore's defense is even better this year than it was last year. As far as their O, they weren't anything special last season either until the playoffs. If I am not mistaken, Flacco has the most playoff wins of any QB since entering the league. I would definitely not want to face them.

Re: Playoff Picture & Potential Matchups

I'm hoping that the Titans don't make the playoffs. Pollard has not been too kind to us
