ESPN - Indiana vs. Boston - Box Score - December 03, 2008

Rondo is starting to light it up, and is going to be an elite star right around the time our Big Three start to age, which will keep us strong for the next 5 years.

Other interesting notes:
- Celtics are 18 and 2 right now.
- Perkins scored 16 points by shooting only 6 times.

doc is doing a great job. what a great coach.

There is a good chance that once the current 'big three' retire, with one good (ok great) acquisition the Celtics can still compete for the title. Look at the stats last night of all the starters. Who are you going to stop? The weakest link on the floor last night was Perkins, and he was 16,10.

The C's are set up well for the next several years, we'll be a perennial contender till at least 2011. Perkins' 16 points on 6 total shots is impressive.

I still cannot believe Doc Rivers won an NBA championship and is now guiding an 18-2 team, but I guess the NBA is more about chemistry and the elite stars than in any other sport... Doc is doing a great job steering the ship.

Doc is to the Celtics what Francona is to the Red Sox.

wasnt there talk about LeBron James being available right when Allens cap money is available?

I think they have to wait until Pierce and Garnett retire before they have cap room. A number of really good free agents are available in addition to his highness. Don't know who is available two years later.

most of the bench players on the celtics could be starters on other teams in the NBA......having good depth on the bench will bring the celtics another world title in 09

Why would LeBron play for NYC? He's tired of carrying crap franchises by himself, and the Celtics are royalty who he may be attracted to, especially if the KG gives him a call.

That's a HUGE stretch. The reason the Celtics are so good is their starting 5, not their bench. Their bench only scored 11 points in that game. Name the players on the Celtics bench that would be solid starters for other NBA teams...

No, they just play better with the better players around them. It would be a stretch to name one player coming off the Celtics bench who could start for another team. Maybe you could find a really bad team in which Big Baby or Powe could start, but thats it.

Pretty much 0% chance that James ends up in Boston. He is either going to be a Knick or a Brooklyn Net.

Not sure if you watched the game last night, but the Pierce was clearly the worst starter last night. Perk's defense doesn't show up in the boxscore.

No didn't catch the game, and your right about Pierce. Tho, if the game is on the line and he's open it doesn't matter too much how many he's missed. Just saying overall, teams are going to be hard pressed to leave someone open like the Lakers did with Rhondo last year.

Now that I've had more time to reflect, doesn't it seem like a big man would want to join the Celtics (after this big three retire) and have one of the best point guards get him the ball?

Are you talking about Stoudamire?

How about Big Al coming back in a few years?

That would be the most reasonable choice, but we could not afford what he is going to want since we will still have too big of a payroll in 2010. We’ll probably get a big man in one of the next few drafts is my guess

Watched the game last night against Portland (nationally). Rhondo has the attention of the media, not just in Boston. The guy is just so fast either on offense or defense. The Celtics are on a roll and with two more wins can break the club record for consecutive wins. All of this with Pierce not shooting well.
Forget about this team becoming complacent. With the Celtics up by plus 20 and the starters on the bench, the lead was reduced to 11. During a time out, Garnett was 'speaking' in a huddle imploring the team to play basketball. The 'speech' was so heartwarming that Big Baby had tears flowing. The players then played basketball to the final buzzer.
Portland is young, but they will be good fairly soon. They could have the big three with a good supporting cast. I think the Lakers window will be closed if they can get their act together.
