I am not saying he was great last year but we picked him up midway thru the season. He could have done worse.

The guy has really good career avg. for distance.

With an offseason and training camp maybe he can turn the Distance into hang time which is more the Pats philosophy.

I think he will be more than adaquate especially when you figure we wont be punting that much.

Its not like they didn't bring in other options too. He won the compitition which I imagine was held in mini camps due to the roster limit of 80.

F--- Hanson!

"Mmm Bop," what kind of crap is that, and those haircuts ... wait, what Hanson are we talking about?

d%#*!@t mofo you got there first

("because that one kid zach looks like a girl.")

How can you not hate such a detestable human being??

Helter Skelter man.......

Never mind, thought you said Manson, Charles.

4-6-NYG 45 (15:00) 6-C.Hanson punts 45 yards to end zone, Center-66-L.Paxton, Touchback.
1-10-NYG 20 (14:52) 10-E.Manning pass deep middle to 89-K.Boss to NE 35 for 45 yards (37-R.Harrison).
1-10-NE 35 (14:02) 44-A.Bradshaw right guard to NE 31 for 4 yards (54-T.Bruschi).
2-6-NE 31 (13:16) 44-A.Bradshaw left guard to NE 29 for 2 yards (93-R.Seymour, 54-T.Bruschi).
3-4-NE 29 (12:34) (Shotgun) 10-E.Manning pass short middle to 12-S.Smith to NE 12 for 17 yards (31-B.Meriweather).
1-10-NE 12 (11:54) (Shotgun) 44-A.Bradshaw up the middle to NE 5 for 7 yards (37-R.Harrison, 36-J.Sanders).
2-3-NE 5 (11:10) 10-E.Manning pass short middle to 85-D.Tyree for 5 yards, TOUCHDOWN.

Failing to get that within the 10 always sticks out for me...

I know, it's weird, I can't understand it either...

I mean after all Hansen was ranked 26th out of 32 NFL punters. Where's the love folks?

Seriously, thank God that our team was called on to punt just 44 times all last season. That's a fraction of what other teams needed. Half the teams in the NFL nearly doubled that.

We're lucky punting factored in to be such a minor part of our special teams and, given the dominance of our offense and defense, our overall game.

Most Patriots fans recognize that had the team not had the wide margin of excellence, the deficiency at Punter could have come back to haunt us. It remains the major weak link on our team.

This is true, and given BB's seemingly neverending quest for an MVP punter and a co-MVP returner, maybe the position has grown in importance for us fans. Hansen's been a disappointment overall. Josh Miller otoh brings back fond memories :)

And just when we were almost all over it. :(

I'd be happy with a decent punter.

I'd be happy with a street legal Porshe 959. Unfortunately, I think we're both out of luck for the near future.

Based on which category?

Seriously, thank God that our team was called on to punt just 44 times all last season. That's a fraction of what other teams needed. Half the teams in the NFL nearly doubled that.

We're lucky punting factored in to be such a minor part of our special teams and, given the dominance of our offense and defense, our overall game.

Considering how strong this team is, to say that the punter is the weak link is actually not a bad thing. But, take this into consideration. Only Jon Ryan of Green Bay had fewer punts returned (by %) than Hanson. And, as a result, the Patriots had the lowest Yards Allowed Per Return in the league at 5.36.

Hanson has his good points and bad points. Just like every other punter out there.

Maybe all the hate for Hanson was due to his being a symbol for the season long futility of that ineffective offense.

Look, everybody knows he only created Bert and Ernie to promote alternative lifestyles...

n/m, that was Henson, Jim...

That jim henson is really a drunk I mean who gets a BWI (boating while intoxicated).

or is that Cedric Benson

HEY, I grew up in Hanson, nothing wrong with it.

Maybe because he hasn't done anything good since Cheers. . . . Oh, wait. . . .

is it true that he's related to Chris Hansen of Dateline NBC?

I can only speak for myself, but Jack Handey cracks me up. Anybody ever read "My Nature Documentary"?

Chris Hanson is the current living symbol of the ongoing frustration that is Patriot Punting. Scott Player would have been an even better symbol, but alas he was an even worse punter.

Is Patriot Punting really so bad? Perhaps not, but when Patriot Everything Else is consistently championship-caliber, it sure sticks out.

I think it is because he is lazy. He is always sitting on the bench and never getting on the field at all....oh...wait a minute... ;)

F--- Hanson!

"Mmm Bop," what kind of crap is that, and those haircuts ... wait, what Hanson are we talking about?

You can't even understand all the words when they sing. As best I can tell it's: "Mmm Bob, ga liddle do da ham, givin all my poo, ga liddle do da hammmm, ooh oh ahh."

THAT'S why all the hate for Hanson.
