Re: Thomase Era Over!

Hmmm...based on the new hire, I might have to reconsider my decision not to visit this rag's website.

Let's see. Too early to speculate. :snob:

The EDITORS, dude. The EDITORS.

The folks who center in on it being just Thomase don't understand the news business.

Re: Thomase Era Over!

... to get some actual dialogue going about the issue.

All those "Thomase is a poo-poo head who eats donuts all day instead of checking his facts ..." type of comments made us all look like a bunch of whiney little girls. And a bunch of poo-poo heads. :D

Bravo........

You took the post right out of my keyboard.

Anyway, as far as I am concerned, the Tomase & Herald era ended several months ago.

Re: Tomase era over? Herald posts Patriots beat position for hire

I dont really care who they hire because I wont read it anyway the herald is as responsible as Thomase

Re: Tomase era over? Herald posts Patriots beat position for hire

This is too good to be true, but if it is:

1) The Boycott stands. This wasn't just one writer but an editorial policy that allowed his garbage to be printed.

2) If Tomass somehow gets another job covering the NFL, let's track him down and trash him on whatever board, blog or webpage his new employer has. I am not a vengeful person, but this guy did more harm to the team we love than can be imagined. He deserves no more consideration than he gave the Patriots, their players and their fans.

I don't remember calling him a "poo-poo head," but I do believe that he was aptly described out here as an incompetent journalist who abused the power of his byline by writing an unsubstantiated story with an unfounded accusation that fueled Specter's delusions and caused untold grief for BB, his team and many others. So, if that makes me "whiney," bring it on!

No surprise, given the fiasco over the walk through fib. I almost never read the Herald, but hasn't Tomase been covering the Red Sox? Even the Herald, with it's limited budget, wouldn't expect one person to be the beat writer for both the Red Sox and Pats. With training camp and the season so close, it's pathetic that they don't have anybody on staff to cover the Pats yet - signs of the Heralds' poor management and financial problems.

Re: Tomase era over? Herald posts Patriots beat position for hire

If Tomase had been replaced or removed we'd have heard about it before an ad hit a trade journal. More likely he will be promoted to Felger's vacant football columnist post (or Guregian was and that leaves no one to cover the team save for dead man walking). Tomase could also be sliding over to the Sox beat since Rob Bradford has joined WEEI along with Felger and Edes has one foot out the door as he fights his buyout.

Re: Thomase Era Over!

Tomase is as good as gone! Halleleujah!!
It looks like they are just trying to find a qualified replacement first before pulling the PLUG!
Good riddance!!

I want to know the circumstances. Something is up. Hopefully, BSMW will have something about this. My guess is that Tomase realized that things were stacked against him being able to do business as usual following the walk-through story fiasco. Tough time for a newcomer to come in and get acclimated. But good riddance to Tomase, who should've been fired (or had the balls to quit) months ago.

Re: Tomase era over? Herald posts Patriots beat position for hire

I do not think it matters who they hire. The amount of damage that needs to be repaired is huge. I can't see anybody in the Patriots organization (or any other NFL organization) trusting the Herald. Whoever they hire is going to be on the outside looking in for a long time.

Re: Tomase era over? Herald posts Patriots beat position for hire

Notice that: Must tell the truth, is not part of the job requirements.

Absolutely!!! Tomase lied about it all...but if the editors had done their job..teh story would have gone nowhere...NOT enough meat and sources...THAT is what should have happened..How many?? More than one especially on a big story like this..Tomase has gotten all the heat..but it's these goons who have been hiding like scared rats who are AS MUCH to blame..and what about the OTHER media who have NOT pressed the Herald on how this story hot out?? THAT is the real story and nobody at all has pushed the Herald to explain..They sort of tossed Tomase to the wolves and then hid..MORE reason why the management is pitiful. Who were the editors that let it go?? They SCREWED the Patriots and I think it's time the fans know who these toads are?? They are still there doing teh same thing..what does that say?

Re: Tomase era over? Herald posts Patriots beat position for hire

Just got an e-mail back from Bruce Allen at BSMW. He said the Herald job listing probably was for FELGER's replacement, not Tomase's job. Bummer.

Re: Tomase era over? Herald posts Patriots beat position for hire

Most 'top' newspaper jobs are filled by recruiting, not by an open ad like this one. It gives me the sense the Herald is trying to save a few bucks by hiring a nobody or that the Herald is so toxic around Foxboro they couldn't hire anyone they reached out to because NE writers fear becoming a non-person to the Patriots. I don't know, it's hard to believe some talented young guy writing for something like a Plymouth-sized paper wouldn't jump at the chance to take this position if the Herald recruited him. I'm betting the Herald just trying to save a few bucks, or maybe the inside word is the paper is on the verge of folding entirely.

This is my 1,000th post I believe, I had hoped it would come on a bit more exciting thread.

Re: Tomase era over? Herald posts Patriots beat position for hire

Any PATS fans here is interested in the job?

Re: Tomase era over? Herald posts Patriots beat position for hire

The Boston Herald, the authority of hard-hitting sports coverage and analysis in Boston

Talk about a stretch...

Listen to PFW in progress.. and Tomase is moving to the Red Sox beat.. Rob Bradford is gone.. So Tomase will still work for the Herald , but not on the Pats beat.. And heard a replay of Johnthan Kraft on EEI, Tiomase as of July 12th has not apoligiezed to the Krafts..

The Sox better check to make sure they don't own any molehills lest one of Tomassse's sources  turn one of them into a mountain.

I'm thrilled he's been evicted from anything Patriots, though I wish it had happened on day 1 of camp, that way we could see it live:D

Just got an e-mail from Bruce Allen at BSMW saying this is very possible.
