Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

This would be the best interview ever:

First he'll call out all the mediots, Walsh and Spector.

Then he'll look straight into the camera and say:

"all you teams that took shots at us or kept silent through this whole ordeal - we're going to lay 60 on you. This time, don't cry about us running up the score. Its nothing personal." ;)

Re: HOT: Belichick to address the Nation tonight!

not sure we do but it would 3 hrs ahead for us anyway. although iam sure there will be a internet feed later after the interview.
although it being a part of a news piece , not sure how long itwill be. a 60 mins program wouldve been nicer.

In Chicagoland, I get to watch it an hour earlier! 530pm, baby!

Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

I don't think Mangini had any idea that it would become what it has. I would like to think that if he did, he wouldn't have made it public the way he did.

====================================

I agree with your sentiment, but,,, Mangini did not make this public.

Estrella surrounded by 6 security and 2 state troopers all in a big loud heated argument outside of the Pats locker room in clear view of many reporters for over an hour is how this became public

Oh, Please. Mangini knew exactly what he was doing when he called NFL security and made them aware that someone "Might" be taping the sidelines.

Give me an F'n break!

What?!?!?! Are you kidding me? Mangini ratted them out and he knew what they were doing because they were doing it when he was there!

Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

I believe this was a joint effort btween the backstabbing Judas and the former Jets employee in the commisioners office. With any luck both will be unemployed soon.

Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

Just saw the preview on CBS Sportsline. I can't believe I am this excited for what will most likely be a 5 minute TOPS interview.

He seems (and rightly so) pissed off, and I hope it's FINALLY the "FU Haters and Liars!" interview we have been waiting for since September.

Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

thanks for the thread, looking forward to it

Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

In my dream, he makes these three points to Keteyian:

1. He doesn't know Walsh, and he doesn't think Walsh knows anything about football operations. There has never been a policy to tape clandestinely, as Walsh said. Walsh is wrong on that. If they had ever had that policy, then they failed miserably because the taping was done in wide open view on the sideline.

2. He misinterpreted the rule. He proves this by reading the actual rule in the rulebook which backs him up. "....During a game." He should repeat that part of the rule 8 or 9 times at least.

3. About the memo, yes it was much more clear, but when the NFL got wind of other teams taping for signals in 2006, the NFL seemed to dismiss those incidents. That's why the Patriots thought the rules in th bylaws still pertained. They hadn't been changed after all.

Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

A quick excerpt about Walsh's assertion of deception....It's out in the open.....he sounds pissed and should be...should be interesting!!

Don't act so outraged, Herm Edwards was waving at the Pats cameras when he wwas the Jets coach.

The Jets new about the filming long before Mangini showed up, heck, the Jets had probaly also been taping for years.

Show me one shred of evidence that Mangini was behind this fiasco. Good chance he was but I have not seen any proof.

I sure would like to know what BB thinks, He's a tough one to get a read on.

As far as Mangini calling NFL security do you have a link or any evidence he did?

Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

What I expect BB to say...

Q: Did the false Herald story distract you or your team going into the SB?

A: The Giants are an excellent football team, they were the best on the field that day, and that's all that matters. They deserved to win.

Translation: I'm not the kind of guy to make excuses

Q: Are there other teams in your experience that have used similar techniques to steal signals?

A: I'm not going to talk about what other teams may have done. Sure, there has been a certain culture in the NFL over my 30 years of experience, but the commissioner put out a memo to change that culture and we should have changed with it.

Translation: The commissioner is a doofus

Q: What about your relationship with the Jets, and Eric Mangini? Was the so-called Border War the genesis of this whole episode?

A: When you compete against a good opponent many times, competitive emotions can get involved. But any issues we have with the Jets or any other NFL team, we handle on the football field or within the framework established by the league.

Translation: the Jets suck and they're ****ies.

Q: What advantages did the filming of signals give you?

A: Armen, if teams think you are filming their signals, it forces them to change signals from week to week. This can create confusion in their defense, which can lead to a big play occasionally. The actual value of taping signals is minimal for this reason: an NFL team with professional scouts breaks down any teams' Defensive signals usually by the end of the 1st quarter anyway. So if your opponent is foolish enough not to change signals, you might have a one possession advantage in the first quarter. But that's only if the other team didn't change its signals since the previous game, which is extremely rare.

Q: So your saying the taping was to force other teams into errors by changing signals?

A: Yes, that's correct. It tests the intelligence of their athletes on defense.

Q: What about Matt Walsh's accusations that you knew you were breaking the rules?

A: Well, I've never spoken to Matt Walsh, had no idea what he looks like until this week, so I'm not sure how he knows what I think.

Q: What about his statement that you sent him a Christmas card?

A: We value all of our employees, as people.

Q: What about your statement you couldn't pick him out of a lineup?

A: I work with a small circle of coaches day to day. The video department is an important but seperate department, filled with entry level positions.

Q: Did you think you were doing something wrong?

A: I think we did business as business was being done. When the new commissioner issued his 2006 memo, we should have changed our operating procedures accordingly. We did not, and we were wrong for having ignored the memo.

Q: Do you think the price you paid was appropriate, a 1st rd pick and $500,000 fine?

A: It doesn't really matter what I think. That was the penalty, we paid it and we're moving on.

Q: Thanks, Coach.

A: Your welcome, Armen. See you during football season [smile].

Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

saw the 10 sec preview on cbsnews website. BB vehemently is telling keteyain that they openly taped opponents so he doesnt know where the deception is in.

They just cut into SC and hd a clip of BB saying emphatically, "there was no attempt to hide it, he was standing right there with everyone else."

It looked like he might be opening up.
