If we were fans of the Arizona Cardinals and the same thing happened but the media just let it go and all was forgotten, you wouldn't be so embaressed, would you. For that matter, had the media given the Belichik a pass, you wouldn't feel embaressed!

So what you're embaressed about is the media attention we've received. and you're embaressed because you feel the image of being a Patriot fan has been damaged.
