Thanks for all your help too......I think AZ people are going to be awesome!!

Re: Advice for buying SB XLII tickets

Was checking out that link for tickets and I must be misunderstanding something. I saw plenty of premium seats for prices at or near 10K per. I also saw a private suite for 18 people for 30K. Assuming you had the cash for a couple of premium seats, thats going to run you right around 20K.

Or you can get your own private suite for 18 people for 30K....

If you could get 18 people together that you know have about 1500 bucks each, you're watching the game in style?

What am I missing here

Can you provide a link? Most suite tickets start at $7k each. 18 people for $30k would be a steal so either you misunderstood, its a scam or this is the best deal around.

Re: Advice for buying SB XLII tickets

Wow, first time I've heard that story. At 38 and 39, you couldn't get anywhere near the stadium without a game ticket/parking pass, which means folks looking to score tix right before kickoff would have to find someone selling several blocks away. I didn't see anyone selling on the street corners at either venue, and plenty of people holding signs looking.

Tons of Pats fans got shut out in Houston (38) and there were lots of problems with fake tickets. Not sure about Jax. (39). In NO (36) there was a guy that sat next to me who bought his ticket at 1/2 face value 5 mins. after kickoff outside from a scalper. There do seem to be lots of tickets available. I am one who could never go without having my tickets in-hand. We bought about a month ago from Razorgator. We got Sec. 440 (about the 20 yd. line), 4 seats together & paid about $2,900 each (they listed for $2,600+, but they add a 10% fee [some sites the fee is higher]). Those tickets are still going for about $200 more than we paid. E-Bay does seem to have lower prices for some tickets, but since I don't do a lot of shopping there, I probably would not feel comfortable buying there for SB tickets (that's just me though).

Re: Advice for buying SB XLII tickets

much better off buying from ebay at the last minute...
every scalper in the country will have a guy who can meet you there... plus, you can use a CC, and also view part feedback. wait everyone!

Re: Advice for buying SB XLII tickets

Way overly simplistic.

The super bowl is a very peculiar event. Scalpers have been selling inventory they don't actually have for 3 weeks, and will need to cover their positions soon. They have a variety of sources to do this, but starting on Wednesday, you will start to see a huge downturn in supply.

I don't disgree with the proposition that if on the day before the game you can pick off a mom and pop with two extras, you will probably be able to get it for less than you could right now.

But that's just not the way the super bowl works any more. You just don't see guys with fistfulls of tickets outside a super bowl. The tickets have all been bought and sold long before it gets to that point.

I saw all this first hand for the national championship game a couple of years ago, as I mentioned above. In the streets there were very few genuine tickets floating around, and literally thousands of people outside the stadium who all thought they were going to get a deal close to kickoff. 10 minutes into the game, tickets were literally being auctioned in the streets with people freaking out and running to the ATM, and tickets selling for much more than they could have been bought on ebay two days before.
no it isnt. are you a scalper? it is a plain, simple fact... scalpers do not want tix... they ALWAYS get desperate.
no, you are not going to see the scalpers on the street... they are actually the ppl with the "i need tix" signs... hasnt everyone figured this out by now?

Re: Advice for buying SB XLII tickets

At SB 36 this was true but try explaining it to the 10,000 people outside Reliant without a ticket for SB 38. Outside of Florida the state of Arizona must have the most transplanted New Englanders (and New Yorkers) in the country. The market bottomed in SB 38 on Saturday but by Sunday the scalpers were naming their price. The chances are if you don't secure a ticket by saturday you will be watching the game on TV. I'll probably pull the trigger by Wednesday at the latest. I have flown out without a ticket (once) and with a ticket twice. For me the anxiety of not knowing if you are getting into the game ruins the fun you should be having. Good hunting!
on ebay, the DAY of 38, tix were being DUMPED like crazy!... and yes, the scalpers will be sure they get the tix to you... and you are protected by your credit card

Did you buy from a scalper at 38? I am just curious, because I went to the game and there were hundreds of Pats fans there desperate for tix who got shut out. I saw them myself getting to the game, plus it was a big news story in Houston for the 24 hrs. after the game. Lots of people were interviewed and said they waited until the last minute because of their experience at 36 (where tickets WERE plentiful outside the stadium) and they never got a ticket.

I don't remember any such problems in Jax, but I also do't remember if anyone was trying to scalp there.

How do you get the ticket so fast? The seller has to be in Glendale.

Re: Advice for buying SB XLII tickets

Another EBAY tip:

Sometimes tickets are mislabeled by date "2/3/07" or venue or whatever. I know it is very unlikely but it does happen. I scored tix to Pats @ FedEx (yes, the last loss before 21) because the dude had a typo "Resdkins" wrong and didn't list "Patriots" in the title and no one who was searching could find it. It takes some work to scroll thru all general ticket listings but one could fall thru the cracks.

Again, very unlikely for such a high dollar ticket but this will work for regular season games, etc.

I saw this on Stubhub about 10 days ago. Presumably a corporation who was on hard times was trying to sublet their box. I can;t think of another explanation. It is long gone though.

I am probably mistaken now that I do the math. Doesn't make any sense. Sorry

Auctions for people who make "superbowl" one word look like they get a little less traffic. The problem for this game, though, is that the brokers have sold thousands of tickets already without having them in inventory, so they are looking to cover and will be covering, and pretty much any trick that works for less big ticket events doesn't really work that well for the super bowl because the competition knows them all. Still, it's good advice.

In a word, it's absurd.

There will be thousands of people with "I need tickets" signs all over the place, and the notion that some dude is sitting there with a pocket full of tickets waiting for his scalper buddy on ebay to give him a call rather than just selling to one of the many people with thousands of dollars of cash in their pockets is silly.

Ticket scalping for big ticket events like the super bowl and the masters has become extremely sophisticated, and there are so many safety valves built in to guard against unsold inventory that it just doesn't work like people who are used to the mechanics for lesser events would like to believe.

Re: Announcements & advice for those heading to AZ (Merged X 2)

I am pleased to announce the following addition to the Super Bowl Week event schedule, to be held at the Vine on Saturday, February 2nd, at 9:00 PM.

A Super Patriot's PEP RALLY which will include the famous "Voodoo Ceremony" conducted by Brad Darr of New Orleans, LA.

This is a special ceremony that has been conducted by Mister Darr prior to all of the Super Bowls that the Patriots have been a part of in recent years.

This is another FREE Event being put on by the New England Patriots Fan Club Of Arizona, and we urge all Pats fans to attend.

Once again, there is no admission charge, and no cover charge as this is yet, one more event in the "Blue Collar Patriots Fan Bash" .

Patsox 23 - can you tell me how far the Vine is from the stadium? And how long (in your estimation) it will take me to get from the Vine to the stadium on game day? I am thinking of going by the Vine before going to the game as I don't think I will have time to get there any other day. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Deb, this is straight from the source:

If there are no traffic backups, it should not take more than 20-25 minutes to get from the Vine to the Stadium. It is ALL freeway travel except for 1 mile from the Vine to get onto the Freeway system.

Re: Super Bowl parking situation?

Thanks for info ... from what I've been reading though, they don't allow tailgating at any of the NFL-sanctioned stadium lots.

Is this true? Or is it just something they say to discourage big time tailgating???

Yes it is true. They do that for security reasons. I've seen people bring a 30-pack and just drink at their car at SB38 in Houston. I don't think anyone would say anything to you if you did that. But don't expect to be grilling or anything like that.

At SB39, people parked in lots a good distance away from the stadium. I did see plenty of people tailgating in those lots. But those also were not stadium lots. I don't know if there are non-stadium lots anywhere near the stadium. But, if there is, you can bet that they will be looking to make money on the Super Bowl crowd and probably would allow tailgating. But as far as the White, Blue, Green, Red, Turquoise, etc. lots... Don't expect to tailgate.

Re: Advice for buying SB XLII tickets

FYI...

StubHub spokesman Sean Pate said prices tend to drop as the game draws closer, and a local law in Glendale could work to the advantage of procrastinators: Ticket scalpers will be allowed to ply their wares in the north preferred parking lot, about a two-minute walk from a stadium entrance, according to stadium marketing director Scott Norton. But Gary Adler, an attorney for the National Association of Ticket Brokers, said he did not recommend that fans try to buy tickets outside the stadium.
