Patriots All-Time Best by Position

You or someone else must have photo shopped that because it's a good yard or two off the original play. Thanks for the personality assessment.

You're incorrect. Faulk bobbled the ball and then fell back across the line after he had control... It was a horrible call on the field.

You’re good with Julius Adams at DE, Stanley Morgan at WR, Leon Gray at LT, John Hannah at LG and, for just one year, Brian Winters at RG.

What a disappointment Trevor Matich was at center!

Especially when considering who else was (eventually) involved in that trade...

Holloway weighed more than the Big House? I don't know about that one...
Didn't even see that as I typed it. Must be the height difference that made Big House look so large.

Youre the first to mention Thuney. No one else did. LOL.

I made changes based on suggestions.

Just went back to the OP... The OL looks a lot better, thanks, as do the additions of both Coates & Russ Francis who, with Gronk, were By Far the 3 best TEs in team history; and it would've been a pity to not have included all of them here... Well done!

Great list. Just remember you have 53 roster spots:

I mentioned Thuney in the other thread over Solder.

As someone else mentioned, Nick Buoniconti has to be mentioned. He was an ALL-PRO LB before he went to Miami.

For DL - You have Houston Antwine. Also Jim Lee Hunt who would probably be a convert to DE for Belichick.

For center, I'd be hard-pressed to take Koppen over Brock or Jim Morris (whom you have listed)

Chris "Home Game" Slade? No way; dude was a Zero on the road, and an over-rated front-runner at home. I'm not suggesting that Vrabel be given that spot either; just that Slade doesn't deserve it.
The entire late 90's defense were front runners. They got beatdowns by the leagues best teams in the Packers and Broncos going 0-5 (including postseason) from 1996 to 1998. Lost a big home game in 1997 to the Steelers. They also had a hard time against the Flutie Bills, Parcells Jets, Jaguars, Dolphins, Colts in 1999, etc.

Was that the Kevin Henry INT in the 4th quarter game? That loss was on Bledsoe. Period. The losses at Denver & Tampa and at home vs GB were definitely the fault of the defense, however.

Yes, it was. Bledsoe loved throwing to LB's for some reason.

While Bledsoe put the defense in a horrible position, Jimmy Hitchcock dropped an INT and Ty Law gave up a 4th and 7 to Yancy Thigpen. Then the Steelers scored AND got a 2 point conversion to tie the game. Defense gave up a 3rd and 15 prayer screen pass and then more yards latter to set up the game winning field goal.

Had Martin played, they probably win, get the #2 seed and play Jacksonville in divisional round at home.

Wow, excellent recall! I'm impressed; I must've allowed the Henry pick to blot out the rest of my memory of the game...

And yeah a PO rematch vs Jacksonville would've been fun that's for sure... We more likely than not would've lost even at home as the 2-seed to the damned dirty donkeys as the 4-seed in the AFCCG, unfortunately.

I watched that game recently and re-watched the last part after your post. There's a lot of games I didn't get to watch as a kid in the 90's living in California, so I've been watching a lot of the 90's Pats games as more of them are being put on YouTube.

Yep, the Broncos just owned the Pats.

I'm watching that game on YouTube as I'm typing this... Terry Glenn's not playing either... Offense has already blown excellent field position twice during the first quarter and scored Zero points from them; but thanks to Milloy then Willie Clay INTs followed by Coates & Gash TD catches respectively, it's now 14-0 Pats with 6:02 left in the 1st half, should've been 17-0 or 20-0... How the **** did we lose to Kordell Stewart that day?

They had no business losing that game. Martin being out hurt as their backup running backs were horrible, but that was pretty standard for most teams back in the day.

Yep; Derek Cullors was ****ing awful that day; Mario Grier was better but didn't get the ball as much for some reason... Meggett & even Byers should've been featured more in the running game.

End of 3 quarters, 14-10 Pats but ****tsdirt's just outside Pats 30 on 1st down thanks to a Bledsoe INT, a harbinger of things to come...
