All this would do is prove, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that your Division sucks. No big deal, but it sucks. Well, I guess the big deal is that once again, the Pats are experiencing something the Colts did in the past. And when our Division sucked, Pats fans made sure to let us know about it. So, now that the shoe is on the other foot, could you please spin it for me?

Spin what? We all know the AFC East sucks.

I don't think anyone would contest that our division sucks (although we'll look at our net division record vs other divisions at the end of the year and get back to you), but --

-- MY GOODNESS are there a lot of trolls around here. I'm not sure how any of you put up with it. The Yankees fans on Red Sox message boards aren't nearly as trollish.

Oh really? The pats have gone 14 - 2 with lesser talent. This is by far the most talented team Bill has ever had. You think its a huge stretch the pats could go nine and one?

I will bet anything that the the Pats aren't 9 and 1 and the Jets aren't 3 and 7 at the end of week 10.

It would be imposible.

IMO the Jets have the potential to win just about every game they play. They have a heady QB, a tough and durable RB, three solid receiving threats in Coles, Cotchery and Baker, and a dynamic 3rd down back. The offensive line is mediocre, but the rest of the offensive talent and Brian Schottenheimer's inventive schemes will compensate to some degree. The defense is miscast in the 3-4. IMO Mangini is the least able coach on the staff. I would rather have Schottenheimer coaching O, or Westoff coach ST, than Mangini coaching D. Even BB didn't switch to the 3-4 until 2003 when he had the horses ready. Mangini IMO F'd up by moving 4-3 personnel to the 3-4 so rapidly. Nonetheless, the quality of coaching, the camarderie and leadership in various lockerrooms around the league is so mediocre that the Jets go into almost every game with an advantage, even on Defense, with their week-to-week scheming. IMO Revis will soon become the best player on their defense. By next year he will be a pro bowl caliber player. So, to answer the overall question, I still see the Jets making a run and being about 6-4 after 10 games, and 10-6 or so by years end. I see the Pats going 13-3, so they will have to clinch the division the old fashioned way, in December.

I honestly would not be surprised by 9-1 or 10-0 for the Pats. This team right now is scary good. Sure they can hit a bump in the road, but I wouldn't be surprised if they kept playing this well.

I agree that 3-7 for the Jets is probably dreaming. It's not impossible though, given an injured Chad and a QB controversy where a rookie could be taking over. The Jets are not good enough to carry a struggling rookie QB. IF Clemens takes over and IF he struggles the Jets could be at 3-7 through week 10.

Since when did Indy play in a tough Divison? Did I miss something?

Oh by the way, we have the division rapped up now to be perfectly honest barriing something Major happening.

I could see the Pats being 9 and 0 thru week ten.

Clemmens will not start unless Chad gets hurt or the Jets are 2 and 7 thru week ten.

bye.....week

I believe the NFL record for earliest division winners is the third week of November or by the end of week 11 set by the 1985 Bears and 1997 49ers.

Will the Patriots win the division and clinch a berth by the end of week 10 and break the NFL record? - I think it can happen and why...

Buffalo - A rookie QB for the next few weeks and a defense all season which looks like second stringers - Will be lucky to win 2 games all year

New York Jets - Pennington and Clemens may be battling weekly for the QB position which is never a good thing and the defensive secondary is getting burned weekly thus far - Probably a 7 game winner

Miami - Green appears to have lost his accuracy and looks old,Jason Taylor at this point this year is nothing special and Zach is not what he used to be much like our Bruschi is now,The defense which was once the strength of this team is not doing the job and the offense with the exception of Brown sucks royally - Probably 6 or 7 wins at best

So by the end of week 10 assuming New England wins all of thier division matches by then and there are no major injuries, the division should look something like this....

New England 9-1
New York Jets 3-7
Miami 3-7
Buffalo 1-9

Which could make New England the division winner by Thanksgiving..Possible? - I think so

I wouldn't be so quick to brand the Bills a 2 win team. They began the season with games against Denver, Pittsburgh and New England, 3 top 10 teams, and they nearly beat Denver. Name a team that has played a tougher slate of games.

I think Buffalo is good enough to beat Miami and the Jets once each, they can beat Kansas City, they can take out the Giants, and they can probably sneak a win against Tennessee or Houston.

Exactly! :)

You almost had us there Gunny. It could have been your big chance to retire a wealthy man. Now if you were betting with Dolphin fans...
