Post Game Thread Week 7 Pats @ Steelers

As he should. Don't see any alternatives out there. As if folks have ever been pitch perfect at their jobs before.

Many think of BB as just a hard ass, but Brian Kinchen wrote about him after he was having trouble long snapping before the 2004 SB. He said BB never yelled, that he took the attitude that they would fix it. And on the biggest snap of his career, he was perfect.

On a side note from all the complaining, at his press conference when told he has 68 TD his response as reported by Mike Reiss was:

"Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski on tying the franchise record with 68 touchdowns: "One more and I got 69 touchdowns, if you know what I mean. Only you know what I mean, baby.""

That guy is a meathead and funny as hell. A 16 year old mind in a 250 lb body. Love that guy.

so, we win next week and the division is almost locked up. lol

If you want to keep High, Collins, Butler, Bennett and some good DE long term and have some depth it actually is a terrible idea. You cannot have 6 guys making 10M+ (plus QB at 20M+ cap) and have a solid, well rounded, deep roster.

  1. Solder's deal is up after 2017, so an extension would lower his number, which is currently scheduled to be about $11.1m.
  2. Thomas is at $10m exactly for each of the 2017 and 2018 seasons.
  3. Vollmer's deal already gives him a cap hit of $5.2m this year, so taking a restructured Solder and Thomas would make a $4m or less addition.
  4. Cannon's deal is up after this season, so the Patriots could look for a cheaper backup moving forward, if they chose.

Are you really trying to say that the Patriots couldn't make that work?

They really got on a roll on 3rd down after Belichick yanked Ryan.

I'm convinced you don't even watch the games.

He wasn't 'yanked' because he didn't start at CB#2 - Rowe did. Ryan was CB #3, but they went 3 safety (Chung, McCourty, Harmon) a lot of the game so he wasn't out there much except when the Steelers went four or five wide.

And what from BB's drafting history shows that he'll invest such a high pick in a "pure pass rusher"?

He gets pass rushers in later rounds and via mid-round pick trades (such as Sheard, Vrabel). Now he will draft MULTI-talented DL with 1st round picks, but they have to do a lot well not just rush the passer.

Jones is a pretty quick name to come to mind. Easley is another.

Line was great in run blocking and below average with the pass

I though overall it was a decent game. The 3rd down D does need to improve but again giving up 16 points to Pitt in their house is a good showing Ben or no Ben. They have a good running game that you have to respect. With Butler I think we have a CB that can keep Brown from beating us.

I think Gost is beating himself up enough. He knows he needs to do better

Mark Daniels @MarkDanielsPJ

Gostkowski: I stink right now. That’s just the bottom line. It’d be nice to be able to enjoy these wins a little more with the team.

Jones didn't do a lot well?????

Easley - sure, but do I have the leeway to claim guys who don't stick don't "count"?

Agree with some of what you say here....but seriously....you think that if Ben was in at QB....we would have won by "a lot more"? In all seriousness in my opinion, if we played this shaky against this team with Ben today.....very good chance we would have lost

My point was I feel we'd bene more focused if it was ben out there and it wouldn't have been the same shaky performance. With Ben, it's arguably the biggest game of our regular season (depending on how Denver does here on out). This team usually seems to save their best efforts for Pittsburgh, today was uncharacteristically sloppy.

You're being kind, I think. Pittsburgh apparently didn't blitz a single time (at least up to the point the announcing crew got to talking about it), yet still got a fair amount of pressure on Brady.

I think Denver is ahead of us as well. They have only play 6 games so their average is better.

I like to look at Points Differential (PD) Because it's a complimentary game.

Note: If the offense scores more than the defense gives up they win. ( I felt I had to add this important note after reading through the Game Day Thread.) :D

Pats leads the league. Lol the Jets.

BTW, it's off topic, but did everyone see Sam Bradford revert to Sam Bradford today?

But Coleman played a lot in the second half.

Yep. Middle of the line remains our most exploitable Achille's Heel. Andrews can be had by even nose tackles in pass pro and Mason isn't all that strong in pass pro either. That, NOT the CB play is the likely most worrisome (with some kicking game) aspect of this team into the second half. That, not a pass rusher, is what I'd like to see BB look for before the deadline.
