Which of these scenarios would be the best for 2016 (if you have a better option please share):

1) Edelman, Amendola, Hogan, Martin, Slater

2) Edelman, Amendola, Hogan, 2nd/3rd RD pick, Slater

3) Edelman, 2nd/3rd RD Pick, Hogan, Martin, Slater

4) Edelman, Hogan, Slater, 2 Draft picks or Free Agents

I'm not really thinking about trades, like Josh Gordon, don't think he is really an option. But I have been wrong before, many times if you ask my wife.

I understand but that technically is his position.

I have no faith in Dobson. He needs to show before I believe. Martin is fine, but I don't want Brady to need to go to him with season on the line. I know people on here think DA is making too much money, but he's proven to be sure-handed and clutch. He is the non-star I trust the most.

Martin was showing signs of the Brady mind meld when he was the only guy put there along with a one legged DA and and a couple of Foxborough HS studs....

This one , BUT..

The Patriots will keep 6 IMO. Counting Slater because he is technically a WR. Hogan is the #2, Amendola the #3. Slater #6

Then one of 2 options with the 4 & 5...
Option 1: sign Nate Washington or Anquan Boldin as the #4, Martin as WR5.
Option 2: make Martin 4 and draft a WR and have them and Harper fight it out for WR5

I think option 2 , so..
Edelman
Hogan
Amendola
Martin
Harper/Draft pick/UDFA
Slater

I'm interested in seeing how the roster plays out. Depending on Chris Long (and his contract) we've got 5 DE's not counting Rufus Johnson. We also have 5 Safeties not counting Brandon King. I believe we went most of last year with 6 or 7 safeties and 4 or 5 WR's counting Slater.

Unless they draft a receiver high (like with one of our 2nd round picks), or sign someone, I'd like to see Martin get a full season with this offense. I really liked what I saw out of him. Brady seemed to trust him. A full season of , OTAs and training camp and let the best man stay on the team, and I think he would beat out the Dobsons of the world for a roster spot.

I think Martin is a 40/600 guy in this offense. I look forward to seeing what he can do healthy over a 16 game season.

Edelman

Amendola

Hogan

Martin

Dobson

Both Dobson and Martin still have to win jobs with Dobson in more peril because of his injury history and lack of production. I would like to see them add a good prospect in the draft, preferably one with the size and speed to be a deep threat.

I think once in a blue moon Tom throws a deep ball to Slater, which never works but Josh doesn't mind calling it.

Plus Dobson does jack squat on STs

Which is completely irrelevant as to the discussion of the WR corp because Slater isn't functionally a WR.

what are you talking about? The pats had only 5 WRs on their 53 man roster last year and slater was one of them. The OP wasn't talking about "functional WRs." In fact he had slater in his options. Any WR list has to include Slater.

lol. it amazes me how this guy still has a roster spot on the team. His ass should've been traded a long time ago

Hes a total tease. I thought he had a nice game vs BUF in week 2 last year then POOF 5 catches the rest of the year.....

Once he got past the injuries et al I really thought he could have a solid year in 2015.

Because of his injury history and overall unreliability there is no way he makes the team in 2016. I'm done.
