I will say regardless of whoever that is it wouldn't surprise me if BB found out what Weddle's market was and decided to make a 12th hour play to get him to NE

i hope so...he would make our defense better/give bill even more options

kerley? i think we have enough slot guys. i mean, how many slants patterns can we possibly run?:D

By the way, anyone else worried about LB depth? Would be nice to have a 3d good linebacker that can step up in a time of need. Last season we really struggled when one of the two top dogs wasn't available.

mcclain would of been nice, but he went back to dallas on a 1 year deal again.
..dont want to see freeny in coverage ever again.

they said laurinitis visited but i have doubts that he would accept a reduced role.

Collins in coverage is also scary on the longer routes.

Hes never made the playoffs and he is an older player. You never know. He might not have a choice

Absolutely. A quality third linebacker is needed. Freeny is a fine fourth but not a third...

Pats know how important STs are and how big these guys can be in deciding a game. If some of the other teams were smart i that area it could go a long way

And people wonder why of all the RBs why are the Pats interested in Cunningham. Very good kick off returner, top 5 the last 2 years..

NE was #31 in avg kick off return..

That's a signing I would like to see due to the KR value. I would slightly prefer Starks, but I would definitely take Cunningham too due to his returns contributions (and his age.)

I am sure they know this and are working to fill it ( based on bringing in some LBs for visits)

Doesn't it depend if the incentives are LTBE/NLTBE?

Yes. Anything he accomplished last year counts immediately (and is credited against next year if unearned). Anything he failed to accomplish counts only when earned.

That was my first thought also but I'm assuming Laurinitis is not an idiot. No matter how confident he is in his abilities, he must know he's not putting Collins or Hightower on the bench, and he's played in this league long enough to know 3 LBs on the field at once (in a 4-3 base) is becoming less and less common.

Yet he still visited. So obviously he's not against being a top role player.

I've lost a lot of confidence in his coverage ability.

That 30 yard drive starter to Lynch on Seattle's last drive of the SB. Those 2 TDs in the AFCCG.

Big screw ups 2 years in a row, in 2 of the biggest games.

A linebacker is a linebacker no matter what at the end of the day (although the trend in the NFL of playing safeties at LB now seems to be aiming to falsify this). They can't be expected to cover like cornerbacks. But I do agree, Collins should have been able to cover a guy like Lynch. All that being said, he's still a great cover LB who just happened to make some bad plays at key moments.

The two plays on Daniels were bad but Chung should have been in coverage - not him.

This is where the big nickel with Weddle or someone similar in skill set is key

But let's just forget the coverage he had on Lynch that forced Wilson to throw wide on 3rd down on the drive right before the Pats had the go ahead TD in the SB...

owen daniels of all players burns jamie. he should of been ashamed of himself. lol

still hoping we get weddle but he seems bound to pittsburgh or the scumbags in baltimore

Jeez, dude... That's harsh. Can I at least take this moment to remind the forum that my other offseason binky was Dion Lewis? 1-for-2 ain't bad... Besides, rookies screw up. It's not like Edelman was a world-beater his rookie season. I've still got faith that the kid has a chance to develop into a solid contributor for the team.

I'm just busting your balls and trying to make you chuckle, @Ross12.

I still think you should consider the screen name change to "Harper's Muff," though.

The coverage was ok. It always seemed to me like there was a miscommunication between Lynch/Wilson on that play, with Lynch possibly giving up on the route at first

Funny story, semi-related.

So in addition to lurking these message boards all the time like a creep, I also play a lot of Halo. Been a big fan since the original game back on the first Xbox (was the reason I bought one back in like, 2002 or 2003), and so naturally I play a lot of Halo 5 currently. I'm in a "company" (which is just another name for a guild) called Spartan Dads, which is comprised of Halo players who all have kids. We are pretty much all dads but there's a couple moms (we try to be inclusive, ya know?)

So anyway, I was playing a couple weeks back and saw a group of guys in my company were on playing together and I thought about joining them, but I was working on a specific task and didn't wanna bog them down with my stupid thing so I just kept going solo. The next day, I was in the company forum's chatroom and saw that same group of guys I saw the prior day were talking in there about having played with an NFL player that day. I jumped in and said "Oh that's pretty cool", they immediately said "Oh, Ross, you're a Pats fan aren't you? He was a member of the Patriots."

Naturally I was pretty excited and obviously a little jealous that I missed out on the chance to play with a Patriot. They said they randomly got linked up with him and were just talking in the lobby after a couple games about what they did and he said he was a football player. I was really excited to find out who it was. Could it have been Gronk? Jules? Maybe Jamie, or High?

"He said his name was Chris Harper. Never heard of him. I asked him how could we be sure he was telling the truth? He said 'come on, you probably remember me, I was the guy who muffed the punt in the Denver game'."

What a weird f***ing coincidence. If I had just joined in with them when I had the chance I would've been playing with freakin' Chris Harper. What a story that would've been.

I've mentioned looking at Zack Brown.. I think he'd be a great replacement for Mayo..
