Patriots sign WR Chris Hogan

Isn't that close to what Kearse got?

I am not sold on this guy, I never seen him being a playmaker. Anyways we will see what he does in training camp. I still think we are overpaying this guy.

Ok I was wondering if Buffalo could easily match if that's not the case job well done BB. Also I would love to have Oakland's Rob Streater on this Team love his upside going forward. Under no circumstance should Aaron Dropson make this Team by default.

Seems like a a pretty hefty contract, but if the Pats want the guy then good not to futz around--pay him and get him in. I do wonder what impact this has on Amendola.

But overall, I like it. He's 27, and so younger, taller and at least as fast as Amendola and Edelman. Will be a good addition.

Someday people are going to say Brady was a system QB who got to play with great players like Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Randy Moss and Chris Hogan.

Rod Streater was injured then fell out of Coaches favor last last year before that he looked pretty good.

After he signs, expect to hear about the Patriots approaching Amendola to restructure that contract of his to something more incentive-laden in order to free up cap space. Hogan is a redundancy that, at the very most, will help the team as a bargaining chip to either lower Amendola's cap hit or cut him outright. At the very least the redundancy will be in place to provide the offense with an option that can get open quickly underneath in the event Edelman, Amendola, or both, sustain injury. We shall see.

Heard the first year cap hit is at 5.5 million. Buffalo has 4.5 million cap space, so unless Buffalo decides to cut some people he'll end up here.

yup.......I think it comes down to Hogan filling the need better along with th elikelihood of being more productive here....Kearse can be noisy, also

the Pats will likely approach this when the timing serves them the best......Hogan does not contribute on returns, so part of Amendola's game is still needed......who knows ... maybe Amendola has already agreed to an adjustment

I have the impression that Kearse was never really looking into the possibility of leaving Seattle. Hence the lack of rumors surrounding him.

I'd hate to cut Dola. I love the core of Edelman, Dola, Martin, and Hogan if healthy, that's a lot of shifty guys out there to cover. Maybe throw in Boldin as an outside the numbers guy.

The return game is more than likely why the team is sniffing around Cunningham. Amendola's cap hit is too high for what he's given the team, minus the 2014 playoffs. And he's injury prone. Further, there's still a draft coming where the team could address the returner situation as well.

Ya I think Kearse had his number of what would make him stay in Seattle and the Seahawks gave him it or came close

With the $$$ they are throwing around Dola looks like a bargain Dola when healthy is better than Sanu and maybe Kearse. Knowing Dola has value on ST's right now I cannot say he's not worth the $$$. Also his knowledge of Patriots Difficult Offense is something to take into consideration.
