4. John Parry 13%

You know it's going to be Coleman or Blakeman, you just know it.

Anyway, Hochuli's not a bad ref necessarily, he just throws all sorts of ticky-tack ******** so he can get on camera more. This could be the longest AFCCG in history.

I know I'm in the minority here but I'm looking forward to the explanations

This weekend both #1 & #2 seeds are playing ....

There's been no conspiracies to make that happen ... I am not worried about the refs at all.

Hochuli is a guy that already has a name, is in the final stretch of his officiating career and due to these factors I think he is less susceptible to burn his name to please Goodell at this point in his career, he's also been on the game for a long time to know when enough is enough.

the fix is in. prepare yourselves...

sucks we didn't get vinovich. he's the best ref in the league by far... **** u roger!

Keep in mind, the head referee (Hochuli in this case) isn't the one who calls the annoying ticky tacky penalties we all tend to hate, like holding and OPI/DPI.

He does have the authority to overturn them though.

Ed is getting all pumped up for this Sunday.

Short sleeves

You may want to rethink this statement....

I can guarantee you that Ed Hochuli was not the one to flag Gronkowski for OPI. Guarantee.

Why do you think they gave him this game?

Need to win this beyond the margin of referee.

Couldn't agree more. We need to put this away early by double digits, and KEEP it away.

my cousin told me Peyton Manning is undefeated since 2000 in EH reffed games... not sure if its true

Broncos head games and rhetoric a sign of nerves?

In the first meeting, Gronk got called for an extremely questionable offensive pass interference penalty on a third-and-5 in the fourth quarter which wiped out a Patriots first down with 6:30 remaining in the game and New England on top.

It was the sixth OPI penalty of the year walked off against Gronk. Interestingly, there hasn’t been one against him since despite the post-catch lobbying you see defenders doing whenever Gronk beats them in tight spaces.

Sunday, Ed Hochuli will be the head referee in the AFC Championship Game. If there’s any ref in the league with a penchant for making the game about himself, it’s Hochuli. It doesn’t take a vivid imagination to envision Hochuli and his crew deciding they need to pay extra-special attention to Gronk.

What you need to know about referees Ed Hochuli and Bill Vinovich
Patriots fans worried about offensive pass interference calls should note that Hochuli's regular-season crew called nine, slightly more than the average across all crews. ... He also was slow to flag "behavior penalties," having made the second-fewest total calls of personal fouls, roughing the passer, unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct (18).

The league should be embarassed by that.

#IntegrityOfTheGame
Why? This does not prove anything. What if I told you that he was given home games for dominate teams?
He can get games with the away teams being ,(Browns, Titans, Dolphins, Texans, Tamper, Jaguars, Skins, Raiders-minus this year, for the last four years and may comeout with that stats. It does not tell the story.
What I am worried about is that he may be a fan of the Broncos. As a fan will not not see the fouls your team commits. It is just human nature and it is not about integrity, you are predisposed to see the infractions of others than your own.
Wiki said:
On September 14, 2008, Hochuli officiated a now-infamous game between the San Diego Chargers and the Denver Broncos, which became notable for a highly controversial call near the end of regulation play. The call came with 1:17 left in the game, while Denver was in possession of the ball at the San Diego one-yard line, trailing the Chargers by seven points. On a second-down play, Denver quarterback Jay Cutler fumbled the ball, and it was recovered by San Diego linebacker Tim Dobbins. Ed Hochuli blew his whistle during the play, signaling that the play was dead and ruling an incomplete pass. Hochuli admitted his mistake and spotted the ball at the point of the fumble, but could not award possession to San Diego, and the play was not reviewable under then-current instant replay rules. Chargers head coach Norv Turner later said after the game, "Ed came over to me and said he blew it. And that to me is not acceptable."Hochuli responded to the situation, writing, "Affecting the outcome of a game is a devastating feeling. Officials strive for perfection – I failed miserably."Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was even fined $25,000 for publicly criticizing Hochuli. The NFL passed a rule the following offseason allowing such plays to be reviewable under the instant replay rule for the 2009 NFL season.Speaking to Referee in November 2009, Hochuli told the magazine, "It was really an easy play. I’ve thought many times why I did what I did. The best explanation is it was almost like dyslexia. I realized it was a fumble and did the wrong thing. I realized I was wrong but there was nothing I could do about it."
