Per FootballZebras, AFCCG referee likely to be good ole Ed Hochuli

Hochuli is usually a very good ref, so this works for me.

Not great, but it could be worse. Hoculi makes some boneheaded calls to be sure, but I feel like he is an equal opportunity dumba$$.

Remember that to the extent you're talking about crews' tendencies that all goes out the window in the playoffs since it's mix-and-match.

Also, man is it a difference how much they "let them play" comparing regular and post season. That has never made sense to me...why call the regular season so tight and then go all lax in the post season?

Put me down for Vinovich. His crew was pretty bad in the Ravens game last year, some brutal PI calls on Revis, but they made up for it in a pretty evenly reffed Super Bowl.

Can't stand Hochuli, with his mindless explanations and numerous huddles. His crew loves their Offense Pass Interference calls and he loves the cameras. Hochuli thinks the people pay to see him.....please no.

All the "his crew" talk is fairly meaningless:
1) Playoff crews are "all-star" crews. So neither Vinovich or Hochuli will have "his crew" with him.
2) Again, because they are all-star crews Vinovich and Hochuli will be reffing with different crews than they had with them in the playoffs last year.

I think what people need to do is when the full crew is announced see who is on it and what regular season crew they were with. It won't be Hochuli's '15 crew which IMO is kind of significant.

Good point.

I was assessing the situation from a regular season point of view.

Is there any recourse against phantom OPI calls? Are any of the announcers likely to highlight them? It's for me the major question mark: how blatantly will the NFL be willing to shade the officiating against Brady in such a high-profile game?

Hochuli in Denver? No way! As I recall, that was the venue where he made his biggest mistake. He blew an inadvertent whistle that cost the Broncos a fumble return and I believe, the game.

He publicly apologized, but Denver was furious. I never thought the NFL* would ever put him in front of them ever again.

Either that, or I'm dreaming it.

They put him there to make amends, some OPI calls and a few other gifts to help the Donkeys win.

Goodells Goon.

Ed has been waiting his whole life for this.
