Divisional Can't-Miss Play: Smith the magician - NFL Videos

Is it just me or was there a BLATANT hold on #72 Akeem Hicks? He literally gets tackled to the ground by the OLineman.

Then one second later Jabaal Sheard BLATANTLY gets blocked in the back.

It's not even like these were "ticky tacky" penalties. They were painfully obvious, right in the middle of the play, and directly allowed Alex Smith to make a "magical" play.

Saw the exact same thing.

KC held big time every f#cking play down 14....refs were directed not to call iit

Lmao. You're right. Hicks is flat on his back getting laid on by a lineman.

and he didnt fall on his own. He got wrestled to the ground by the Olineman.

horrible no-call and it was game changing as KC was desperately losing momentum and this was a crucial 3rd down. This game was on it's way to being a blow out until this play.

there are other plays I could nitpick on (the DPI on Edelman), but this one was just so obvious that I can't believe any ref could honestly miss BOTH the block in the back and Hicks being wrestled to the ground.

Expect to see this against any remotely mobile QB.

We will have to rip this Lombardi out of their hands.
That's fine

Honestly, you can call a hold on any play. There was nothing in there that seemed out of place.

these are not "ticky tacky" holds that happen on every play though

they are BLATANT, out in the open, and very obvious. its not even close.

Sorry, you and I won't be able to agree on that.
All the best though.

Id like to see a chart of penalties called per game per week. I bet it drops off a cliff in the playoffs.

Also, could they have given us a replay of the receiver catching that ball? They cut away when the ball hit ground. You couldn't even tell.

Also, what the heck was this? "By rule, the Patriots have to allow the officials to officiate."

Say what?

When Fouts and eye-an are mocking officials for such an obvious blown call on the pats...the officials screwed the pooch. It may not have been dpi, but that's textbook illegal contact.

No way Goodell "allows" the Pats to win the SB this year. If it's even slightly close, I'm expecting every single call and non-call to go towards the opposition.

The egomaniacal leader of the most popular sport, one that is the most exclusive billionaire club on earth, one that is arguably the second or third most media influential entity, absolutely does not want to be made to look the rube to an international broadcast to millions. No doubt in my mind Goody will exact influence to try and keep the moment of his public 'rube-ness' from happening. It is likely that he and his group will exact influence to keep that from happening. A direct 1:1 type influence? no. Coaxing by way of a few untimely calls? Very possible.
With that said, unfortunately (something that will make me as popular as a Jet on this board) I suspect there will be some behind the scenes discussions during the 2 week pre-SB time. As nauseating as this is to contemplate -- and it is nauseating -- the Patriots may be, ahem, urged to espouse some grace and deference toward 'the league' if the Patriots were win the SB ('show Michael some respect or you'll wake up with a horse's head in your bed'). If Goody thinks the trophy award moment could be a PR positive by way of a few key Patriots speaking some deference and grace to Goody/the league? I think Goody and his gang will be less inclination to urge a non Patriot favorable outcome. Just is what it is....

I'm actually pretty okay with the refs not calling a lot of stuff late in playoff games. Let the players determine the outcome and keep the yellow laundry to a minimum
