“Factually, I personally don’t have enough information to make that determination,” Lurie said, via Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “I look back on that game and the Super Bowl as some missed opportunities. I tend to focus on that. But there’s always been talk about that from the time the game finished and continued on until now.”
Lurie said he has “a lot of confidence” in Goodell and his ability to investigate potential cheating violations.
“We’re very much dependent on the NFL being a strong investigative body that will look into everything,” Lurie explained, “. . .because we all want to play on a completely level playing field. . . . We have to absolutely figure out . . . if there’s any advantage being taken. Sometimes it falls on the Commissioner in an unpopular way to manage [the investigative] process.”
On Friday, Lurie apparently believed that it fell on him to give the Commissioner a boost while not believing that it fell on the man in charge of the Eagles organization to proclaim to the world that the playing field against the Patriots was level a decade ago.
