Sometimes we forget that many athletes are truly dumb. In the case of Marshall, by coming out and acknowledging that he suffers from social anxiety and then keeping his mouth shut for awhile, it almost made you think maybe this guy isn't a total moron with rocks for brains.

Then, he suggests that Brady gets preferential treatment for being white, which is presumably why he won in court.

Because we know that (African American) Ray Rice didn't beat (white) Roger Goodell in court.
And we know that (African American) Adrian Peterson didn't beat (white) Roger Goodell in court.
And we know that others such as (African Americans) Jonathan Vilma, and the Vikings Williams DTs didn't beat (white) Roger Goodell in court.

The union rep, Demaurice Smith (African American) hasn't beaten (white) Roger Goodell on multiple occasions.

We all knew that the NFL has enough dumb players that eventually even something as dumb as this would be uttered by someone, and we just wondered who would be dumb enough to say it. Well, thank you Brandon Marshall. You win the prize for biggest idiot in a league full of idiots.

“I think that there are three different types of players viewing this thing,” Marshall said on the show. “Number one is the fighter. I think there are guys that are in the fight with Tom [Brady]. When one player’s rights are upheld, all players’ rights are upheld. It’s not about what he did if he’s right or wrong, it’s more about the process. Is it fair? The second [type of player’s view] is the coward. I call them cowards. That’s the guys who are afraid to face Tom Brady. They want him suspended. I don’t believe in that. And the last [type] is the race card. There are a lot of players out there that believe that white players, specifically at the quarterback position, are treated differently.”

He was actually fair, the headlines weren't

Marshall was reporting what others are saying, which is fair, he didn't endorse that POV.

I wish someone would ask those who feel Brady was treated better than a Black QB, how the deflategate torture was better than the treatment C Newton got when his team was caught tampering the balls during a game.

This thread is a good illustration of why it is advisable for an OP to actually LINK and QUOTE (it's very easy) what they are talking about.

Otherwise it turns into an ESPN-style clusterjam.

You need to take a step back and look at the bigger issue.

You have hundreds of players who come from an all-black world that are taught from the very beginning not to trust white people.

You can call it ignorance. You can call it lack of education. You can call it reverse-racism. All reasonable characterizations.

No matter what your response is, this country still has a big problem with race and it isn't getting better.

He went on: “This is how guys are feeling, this is not just my opinion,” he said. “These are conversations I’m having with guys.”

Marshall was then asked if he believed black players were held to a different standard. He responded: “Absolutely. At times, yes.”

Don't buy into the headlines. His comments are more nuanced than they're being portrayed.

He did say that it was not just his opinion but other's as well.

It's absolutely getting better, it's just not perfect. There's no question we're better off now as an integrated society than we were 20, 30 or 40 years ago. There's more minorities in top positions than ever. And the fact that there is a light being shed on the disparities effecting minorities is a good thing, imo, though I think it is less about race than poverty at this point, but whatever, I digress.

But a big part of the problem is that media no longer exists to inform but instead exists to warp facts into the sexiest narrative possible and we're bombarded with media and information in a way that no generation has ever had to deal with.\

What it comes down to is this:

Who in their right mind believes Tom Brady was treated with kid gloves by the NFL this summer????????

The idiots who think he should have gone to jail for trading signed paraphenalia in exchange for the dorito dinks deflating every football within a 600 mile radius.

You can argue that Rice, AP and Hardy were treated fairly or unfairly by the NFL for the terrible things that they did.

I agree- There is absolutely no argument on any level that Brady was treated worse than if an African-American player was in his situation.

Who cares what this weirdo with Borderline Personality Disorder thinks?

Yeah I ****ing hate mentally ill people. What a bunch of maroons!

PS - I wish he was gonna be wearing a Pats' jersey tomorrow night.

Marshall's main message is that the players do not trust the NFL disciplinary process.

Is there any reason that they should?

Why? The guy is a locker room cancer.

I don't hate all people with personality disorders, but BPD specifically are usually emo type individuals. Low self esteem, emotionally volatile, unstable, etc. They're f&cking annoying.

I don't want to turn this thread into race thing...Shmessy and Ian will explode.

The issue isn't if minorities are better off. Of course they are (IMO). It's the perception that they have that they aren't and whites feel the same way.

Media sensationalism is part of the gasoline mix for sure.

The headline was stupid, but the content of what Marshall actually said was fine. Insightful, even.
