I think the basis for the Patriots filing tampering charges has to be more than just Woody Johnson's comments. Otherwise I doubt they would have bothered. The Pats aren't going to get squat in compensation if that's all there is.
I think there's a very good chance they have something tangible on the Jets in this case and that's what led to the filing.
We shall see.
I have said nothing different. BTW, I read your post. There is nothing requiring that the patriots receive compensation. As I have said, I expect the jets to be punished.Clubs are further advised that prior to the beginning of the new League Year it is impermissible for a club to enter into an agreement of any kind, express or implied, oral or written, or promises, undertakings, representations, commitments, inducements, assurances of intent or understandings of any kind concerning the terms or conditions of employment offered to, or to be offered to, any prospective Unrestricted Free Agent for inclusion in a Player Contract after the start of the new League Year. Any announcement of an agreement or an agreement in principle by a club or another party, including, but not limited to, a certified agent, player, or media organization may subject the club to a tampering investigation.
The rule is has no requirement of being limited to direct contact.
LOL....the Jets and the 6th pick
*Cough* Vernon Golston *cough cough*
First Of All I can't stand that Doosh Schefter and g'friend Moretensen with anything they report and they're blatent Pats Haters and can't wait to report anything about Pats that is negative..
If Woody is found to have tampered then penalty should be a No1 or No 2 Jets Pick because when BB came to NE after bein Jets HC for a Min.I believe Pats had to give Jets a No 1 or 2 Pick. We're not talkin about a 3rd or 4th round player here. Revis is clearly equivilent for 1 or 2.
Do you know whose in charge of the decision making?

Before everyone pissed off the league office with blatant tampering during the legal tampering period, I figured the Jets would not have to surrender a heck of a lot for their tampering. Now that the league needs to make an example of someone, I expect a harsher punishment. I still don't expect a first or second rounder without evidence of them contacting Revis, but a third isn't out of the question.
Unless there's evidence that the Jets contacted Revis than I seriously doubt it. All Woody said was he'd like Revis to come back. Every team would like that. Revis wanted to go back home and he'd be stupid not to test the market anyways. Obviously Woody tampered but getting the Jets first round pick is insane. Is there anyone in the NFL world that thinks this is fair punishment? The only people that think the Pats should get a first round pick are Pats fans.
Schefter is definitely not a Pats hater
Show me an example of Schefter being a Pats hater... I'll wait.Him and Mortensen are MOST certainly are!
He has a track record up in these parts.Which goes right back to what I said the other day, why bother ever discussing any of these issues if that is going to be the response. If someone can make an argument for lesser punishment then by all means make it but the Goodell response is really douchey. It simply means they don't have a response or are too lazy to make their case, either way it's bullsh.t imo. I expect it from trolls and Jett fans but having Patriot fans act that way sucks imo.
I don't think that a switch of 1s is called for either. Too much tampering goes on to punish 1 team so harshly, but this is so much worse than the detroit case where an asst coach made a comment to a media type that that punishment should not be considered as a precedent.
