I would like to see him rise into the first and push one of the bigger DL to us.

I don't want those bigger DLs in the first. No upside to them except for Phillips and he's too raw. Carl Davis is the only one I'm comfortable taking that high.

If Shelton drops I would draft him at #32. Looking at the way bigger DL have dropped in recent years I am not buying these mocks that have Shelton going in the top 20.

I'd consider Shelton but I doubt he drops that far.

Once we have the #6 pick everything will change anyway.
Heh. For a few seconds until BB trades it away for a bazillion picks.

That being said, just imagine the damage we could do if we would end up with all the draft picks that come in a trade for the sixth overall.

I think Mayo and Manx would have a seizure just thinking about all the possibilities..

Don't know what I'd do with the 6th pick. Trade down and get a top OL would be my favoured choice but I'd find it hard to turn my back on some of those pass-rushers. If we had 32 as well, it's much easier:

6. Beasley, Fowler, Dupree, Ray or Gregory
32. Fisher or Erving
64 trade up into mid-second for for CB.

I'd trade the 6th pick to Philly and Chip Kelly for

Cole Hamels

6 down to 12 and 44 and mingo

12 down to 28 and 2016 first

Gurley at 28
Peters/jones/top cb at 32
Fisher at 44
Hardison at 64
Trade up to 74 for harpet
Heeney with the supplemental pick
Smelter end of the 4th
Grant beginning of 6th
Terry williams top of 7
A tight end with potential with our supp pick

Back to the topic of pro days, this from Tony Pauline:
The accolades continue for Ali Marpet. Nine teams made their way to upstate New York to watch the offensive lineman, who continues to impress future NFL employers. As he did during the Combine, Marpet looked terrific in position drills. He moved very well and displayed violent hand punch. Many now feel confident they will be able to use him in a power-running offense, something I thought possible when he handled Danny Shelton during Senior Bowl practice.

I'm told Marpet will work out again for a collective group of scouts on April 7, the same date Syracuse holds its pro day.

Athletically there's a JJ Watt in this class

JJ Watt.

6'5", 290
4.84
34 reps
37" VJ
120" BJ
6.88" 3-cone

Kristjan Sokoli, Buffalo, DT

6'5", 290
4.84 forty
31 reps
38" VJ
119" BJ
7.19 3cone

Incredible similarity aside from the 3cone.

Had a quick look at some Khalil Mack tape, Sokoli plays NT in a 3 man front so there's not much to see. Will look a little more in depth at another time. The Patriots were present for the pro day so it's a name worth keeping in mind because that's some top notch athleticism.

Edit: 34" arms for Sokoli, also exactly the same as Watt.

Credit to Zach Whitman on twitter for noticing the comparison.

Is he a workout warrior as Watt was/is?

Workout warrior is usually used to describe someone who is outstanding in the weight room but not good on the field and Watt is certainly not that. Sokoli plays NT, I think he has some decent functional strength at least. Watt is the total package which is why he's as good as he is but I actually think its his quickness which really makes him as good as he is rather than his strength.

Seriously, no-one?

Maybe this will strike some interest:

Buffalo DT Kristjan Sokoli is the only significant athletic match to J.J. Watt in my database, which spans 17 draft classes.

Manx,

I haven't responded to this yet because I haven't figured out how to process it. You are the best person I know at digging up diamonds in the rough, so it certainly gets my attention. But I also tend to discount athletic pro day comparisons a bit. So many look so promising on paper, and don't pan out on the field. I don't know anything about this kid in terms of how he is as a player, and have never seen film of him. Khalil Mack certainly proved that impact players can come out of Buffalo, but he had more than great SPARQ numbers. I'm intrigued, and I'll try to learn more when I can get some time to study him.

I watched the first quarter and a half of the Medal of Honor Bowl and he got one pressure and bull rushed a guard right back into the QB on another play. He doesn't look to have the experience to be any sort of early contributor but he certainly has borderline draftable skills. He played 0-tech NT in a 3-4 which I think is great preparation. He's got JJ Watt's athleticism! I don't know why you wouldn't draft him in the 6th or 7th just in case?

Some more comps I've found (Sokoli in brackets)

Greg Hardy

6-4, 281 (6-5, 290)
4.82 (4.84)
21 reps (31 reps)
35" VJ (38")
117" BJ (119")
7.25 3cone (7.19)

Mario Williams

6-7, 295

4.70
35 reps
40.5" VJ
120" BJ
7.21 3cone

The only other people I can find close to that combination of forty, vert, 3cone and size are Suh, Allen Bailey, Jason Hatcher and Tyson Alualu. There are a couple of prospects: Darrion Scott and Russ Kolodziej who are clearly busts and just miss matching up to Sokoli (Scott has no 3 cone and Kolodziej went sub 35" on the vert).

He sounds intriguing. I'm just a little cautious, but not uninterested.

I'll add one to your list:

6' 5 1/4" 304#
4.84 40
1.67 10-split
30 reps
36" VJ
127" BJ
7.42 3C

The 3-cone is a little out of range, but the other numbers are outstanding.

Any guesses?

A hint: He's still with his original team, but has yet to record a stat in the NFL. And no, he's not Jake Bequette. :D

Another one of my Pro Day "diamonds in the rough" who so far seem to be a different form of carbon, this one a WR:

6' 3 1/3" 213#
4.51 40
1.61 10-split
11 BP
41 1/2" VJ
130" BJ
6.35 3C

He's bounced between 4 teams, is still in the NFL, and has yet to record a reception.

I suspect it's the Estonian guy who the Bengals drafted (mind has gone blank). No it can't be, he wasn't 304lbs. Nope, don't know.

I wanted him so badly in 2013. Was very upset that the Pats used a 7th on Steve Beauharnais instead of taking him, as he had ties to Jim Tomsula and was clearly going to sign with SF if not drafted.

The WR mentioned above is Dale Moss, who I badly wanted in 2012.

I hope your diamond hunting abilities are better than mine.
