Bills trade for LeSean McCoy + Matt Cassel

I would be down on just about any RB in the NFL at $10M per year. And the best RB in the NFL is Jamaal Charles. You could maybe argue that it's Le'Veon Bell or even Adrian Peterson, but McCoy is not in that conversation and the OL that he's going to is at least as bad as the one he left.

McCoy is not even in the same conversation as Jamaal Charles or LeVeon Bell? Do you watch football outside of Patriot games? That's just as silly statement as I've read in a while.

Don't worry man, the reaction here by majority of posters is typical of how these dudes react. If this trade was made by us, we'd be creaming all over our pants.

We're still gonna kick your @ss next year but still a good trade.

If you really think this team would ever pay that much to a RB then you are out of your mind.

Undersize? He was measured at 6'3 3/4.

238 pounds is the undersized part. For contrast, Hightower is 270 and Mayo and Collins are both 250.

I wouldn't necessarily call it undersized myself, only because a lot of teams use sub-240 LBs these days since LBs are asked to cover so much. Luke Kuechly is the same size and Lavonte David is smaller. It's a tricky balance, because at that weight a LB isn't going to be at a huge size disadvantage against any OL that makes it to the second level, and may even be at a disadvantage against some RBs. But if you go too much bigger most guys won't have the agility and speed to cover TEs and RBs. Alonso is definitely more of a range guy than a gap-plugger.

Almost every LB is going to be limited in some element of what you'd ideally like a LB to do. Anyone who's big enough to be a strength in run support will usually give something up in coverage and vice versa. Collins, Hightower and Mayo are three of the most versatile LBs in the league, but even they have their own small weaknesses, like Collins tries to get around blockers rather than engaging them head on in run support, or Hightower struggling a bit with RBs coming out of the backfield (though not nearly as much as you'd expect from someone weighing 270).

Yeah, tons of them. Do you? How many Steelers, Chiefs and Eagles games did you watch this year combined? I watched somewhere in the neighborhood of 15. More than enough to know that if you switched Charles or Bell with McCoy, the Eagles would become much, much better, and either of those teams would become much worse.

I mentioned to the bills fan who knocked alonso if they where gonna fix their offensive line.

Same with Rex, he's such an awesome nemesis to BB. Why are people acting like McCoy is over the hill? He turns 27 in July, he has 3 years of elite play left easily. McCoy and Watkins in the same offense is going to be scary. Buffalo just needs a QB and they're SB contenders (on paper). Their defense is already legit and figures to better this year with Rex running the show.

Its not that he is over the hill, but rather over used: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/what-happens-after-300-carries-revisited/

I doubt it with the proclamations you're making.

Someone actually said that McCoy's not in the same conversation as Charles or Bell?

They've got to be trolling you.

We all doubt lots of things. For example, I don't doubt that you watch a lot of football. I just doubt that you understand much of what you're watching.

I think he was serious.

No, it's pretty clear who's not understanding what they are watching.

This is a typical sexy move by the bills. Yes the bills are gonna be tough but thay offensive line is still a mess. Are they gonna go after bulaga now?

That would definitely help explain Rex's willingness to get rid of him. He's never struck me as the kind of coach who has much use for LBs that can't defend the run.
It won't be too long before Ryan has a tattoo of Spikes on his butt then...

They've already added Incognito, so they seem to know that they have an issue on the line. They'll address it.

Whether it gets fixed or not, time will tell.

Maybe jets then.

That's been one of the rumored partners if the Eagles trade up. I think the rumors were saying that it would take two 1s and Foles for the Eagles to move up to the Jets spot, which seems pretty steep. That would be a very good haul for the Jets, even if you don't think Foles is good (which I don't). When you have as many holes as the Jets do, I'm pretty much always a proponent of trading from that 5-10 range down to the middle of the 1st, if you can pick up an extra 1 in the process.

Like someone had mentioned they might as well sign pollard lol. No doubt they will be tough. Even the jests played us tough last year. If you have a great d line then u will always be in the game. Thata what both teams have.

The last 3 NFC SB representatives have been running teams that ran more than passed. This notion that it's a "pass happy" league ignores a whole lot of the picture.

That is hardly meaningful. Here is a list of the running backs, ranked by cap hit. http://overthecap.com/position/running-back/2014/ Only two playoff teams had running backs among the 20 on that list (oddly the Panthers had three!). So while the running game may be a bit more important these days then it has been, what hasn't changes is their interchangeability. I find paying that much to a back, any back, suspect at best. Even the team that is the poster child for the higher priced running back, Seattle, has had numerous rumors about moving on from him.

im not sure why anyone would say its a bad move by trading for the only RB to have back to back 1300 plus yard seasons in the last 5 years

That is hardly meaningful.

Of course it's meaningful that heavy run teams are getting to the SB in this passing era. That you claim otherwise just indicates that you're not being serious in your posting. As for Seattle...

On the heels of another dominant season for the running back nicknamed "Beast Mode," multiple sources tell me Seattle has made Lynch an offer on a huge contract extension that would keep him in a Seahawks uniform for years to come.

The deal is believed to include more than $10 million for Lynch in the 2015 season alone. Lynch currently is slated to make $5 million in 2015, the final year of what originally was a four-year, $31 million deal.

...As for his compensation, Lynch could end up being the highest-paid running back not named Adrian Peterson using average-per-year as a measure.
