Schefter:

Falcons being investigated for piping artificial crowd noise into their stadium the past two seasons, per sources. The offense is expected to result in discipline with the Falcons being fined and quite possibly losing a draft choice. A Falcons team spokesman said: “We were informed during the season that the league office is looking into crowd noise during our games. We have cooperated fully with them, and we’re awaiting the outcome." Atlanta is accused of piping in the noise while the opposing team was huddling, trying to call its play. The tactics originated from the Falcons' game operations department, per sources. Some around the league have argued that silent counts have rendered crowd noise more irrelevant and it’s difficult to discern how much of an advantage it gave the Falcons. But it was enough to have the league look into it, and now the Falcons are facing stiff penalties.

They learned well from the Colts. :p

"This is a nothing story. I cannot see how you can get a competitive advantage by piping in crowd noise. As a QB, I can honestly say that crowd noise never affects a QB or the offense. I am crying this time because this a witch hunt against Atlanta. This is such a non-story." - Mark Brunell.

No one cares. There will be no ABC nightly news, NBC, CBS or 24/7 BSPN coverage of this. All benefit of the doubt will be granted them. Is this the NFL's way of trying to look like they're not just anti-Patriots? Timing is suspicious.

Nothing is going to happen. See Colts.
Nothing is going to happen via textgate. See Browns
Nothing is going to happen via tampering see Jets.
Ignorance is no excuse. Ignorance is Roger Goodell. Probably fine the Patriots and take their first rounder. You need not ask why.

I dunno know, guys. This doesn't qualify for the Manning Exemption, so they might actually get punished.

Watch for the spin being this is gamesmanship while the Patriots cheat.

How funny will it be that after all the DeflateGate stuff that the Falcons get penalized for cheating and the Pats don't or the Falcons get a far bigger punishment than the Pats.

Is it in the rule book? Are there any memo warning against this type of act?

Can't believe this! They should stripped of all their SB titles!!!!

#nosbsincedecibalgate

I demand that matty ice stand in front of the media and apologize for being a cheater!!!

Let's not kid ourselves. When it comes to popular opinion and media spin, this will come back to the Patriots, with Dimitroff et al.
Of course that will be the narrative. Pioli and Dimtroff? Please. You know where this story is going. Ammo for the haters and once again not from a statement from the league office, yet another leak instead to get the media to do their dirty work.

Roger Goodell, clean up your own damn house before you start targeting everyone else. They need to investigate themselves and figure out who there mole(s) are. There new way of doing buisness is leak it to the media and let the mob mentality try and convict in the press.

Disgusting.

Goodell needs to go. NOW!

If you're wondering whether a cheating allegation will attract national coverage, use this simple equation:

Does a significant portion of the country deeply hate the team the allegations are against, either for jealousy or other reasons?:
If YES--> It's the Patriots, so ESPN will be blowing this up for months.
If NO--> It's someone else, so you're never gonna hear about this again.
