According to PFT and their "league sources," the investigation will be very thorough and any punishment will be doled out in the offseason.

Get ready, b/c it's not going to be taken care of any time soon.

Edit: sorry for the repeat post.

I'm sure they want to avoid another "they burned the tapes" fallout.

If they were underinflated or other mistakes made, I expect tighter controls to be placed around management of the footballs. And barring a confession or proof of shenanigans that came from the coaching staff...I expect the Pats to be completely exonerated from suspicion.

Dude...

He pretty much tells us that is the matter. How the hell can you "disagree", when you don't know jack ****?
You seem a little obsessed with this.

I've been trying to get the 1st half/2nd half stat splits for Brady. Haven't been able to so far.

Does anyone have it? I'm pretty sure that alone can put all this nonsense to rest.

Off the top of my head I remember 95 yes, 1 TD and 1 int (first half).

Obviously the second half was much better, but nothing is going to put it to rest aside from the eventual announcement from the NFL.

Bring the hate. I love it.

Even though the media will make this yet another storyline all the way up to the SB, and it will play bigtime given all the Spygate knuckleheads in Ameerrica etc, it's absolutely laughable to me. Bulletin board material if anything and would make another SB victory all the sweeter.

.2 points under the legal pressure... is this something that you actually have heard or something you are speculating about.
Or is this the legal limit that some on this board have
Take it for what it's worth but Schefter was saying that when the Colts intercepted the two balls in the game during the regular season they noticed that they were underinflated. Because of this, according to Schefter, they were on the lookout for it this time around and when Brady threw the pick in the first half they noticed the same thing.

If that's true, I don't understand why they wouldn't say something during the first game? Seems fishy to me...

Florio:
Per a league source, the Patriots officially have been informed of the investigation, and the investigation will be thorough and transparent. Consequences, if any, will come in the offseason, with a full explanation from the NFL as to what happened and why punishment was (or wasn’t) imposed.

In this specific case, the investigation will focus on whether the balls were properly weighed and measured by officials before the game started, whether anything happened while the balls were in the custody of the referee, and whether anything happened after the balls were given by the referee to the ball attendant.

The ball attendant becomes a key figure in any investigation regarding ball inflation because the ball attendant is an employee not of the league but of the team.

So do we know for sure if the footballs actually were under the legal minimum? I haven't seen this anywhere else...

Worst possible outcome.

NFL insider on espn believe it or not actually hit this whole situation right on the head.

If the league is just going to hand the ball over to a ballboy employee of the teams playing then why go to the bother of testing the balls in the first place?

Worst possible outcome.

Who gives a crap. This is the most nebulous accusation that's ever been made of us. It's not even clear whether deflating the balls would be of any competitive advantage. It's all a load of BS, ignore the noise. The Colts are butthurt that they are our personal punching bag, and that we've outscored them by almost 130 points in our last 4 games.

Color me shocked. What did they say?

From that, he's not defining the word "matter". He's stating that's what the matter is. In other words, they are not investigating a deflated ball, per procedure, as you have been claiming. They are investigating a Colts allegation the Patriots did it.

Pretty clear cut man. Andy, I hope you haven't dug your heels so deep into this one that if it turns out to be the case, directly from the NFL, you're going to have a breakdown or something.
So what you are saying is that when Mike Reiss reads that the league is looking into the matter, he has some type of inside information about the definition of 'the matter'?

My only problem with this is that a disposition of the matter should not take in excess of 2 weeks to be arrived at. With this team, it's always a case of guilty until proven innocent. I think in these types of cases the person(s) putting forth these insinuations/ accusations should be required to provide proof. Curran
suggested this a couple of years ago when Suggs and Lewis made these veiled accusatory comments and the walked away. What they did and what Kravitz did is gutless and cowardly. Just throw a match, light the bonfire and wash their hands of it. It all runs contrary to the principles of justice. The Patriots should have the opportunity to confront and question their accusers.

Worst possible outcome.

Unless we are found guilty. Then it's not the worst possible outcome. It would be preferred. If we are innocent it would be best if it came out now. If we are guilty, the worst possible outcome would be for it to come out today.

Color me shocked. What did they say?
They basically said the accusations were more hurtful because of the history of the Patriots and the perception it creates. They also said that the Patriots would have won 45-7 regardless of whether they deflated balls or not. It did seem that they were basically accepting the report as true though...
