Buffalo Bills hire Rex Ryan as head coach

IDK, I don' think the Bills are that talented and you forget that they lucked into the playoffs one of those years because their last two games were against teams that could have beat them (the Colts ended up beating them several weeks later), but sat their starters for the playoffs. The next year, the Jets were legit.

But Sanchez was a good game manager and could have elite drives here and there during those two years. The Bills don't even have a QB as good at the 2009/2010 Sanchez.

2009-2010 sanchez had a rating of 69 and his TD to INT ratio was 29-33. So, no, He was no game manager. They won in spite of him. All the Bills need is a journeyman manager like Orton and theyll be a major pain the butt.

Now we are going to have to play two tough games against the Bills. The only good thing is that they have no real QB and no first round pick.

I can't say this is good news, prefer to have him in the NFC . It could have been worse. He could have gone to a AFC East team just as a defensive coordinator. If he did that, he would really be tough to play against. The fact he has to manage the entire team makes him less effective.

Do they really think Ryan will solve their offensive woes? I thought he would've fit great in Atlanta where they actually have a franchise QB. But in Buffalo he's basically dealt with the same issue as in New York: no franchise qb.

I have to admit though, that defense might really start living up to its potential.

Wow. This loser has an obsession with Belichick and Brady. Of course he stays within the division.

Did the Jets have a real QB while Rex was the coach? NO

They definitely have better personnel on that roster, just need a decent QB. They will compete in the next few seasons. I am sure the "be patient until the Brady era ends" was part of the discussion. Out of the 3 other division teams, they have the young talent for long term success if they are patient and don't turnover the front office every few years.

Will anyone be shocked when Free Agent QB Ryan Mallet is announced as the Buffalo Bills starting QB. Bank it.

If Greg Roman is the OC, expect a power run game. That will limit the need for a franchise QB. Manuel can replicate some of what Kaepernick can do although a Hoyer game manager type also makes a lot of sense.

And Buffalo isn't? Their coach just got paid $4M to walk.

The Jets weren't the best run organization, but Rex brought real dysfunction, and at a level we'd never seen before.

5yrs - 5.5million/yr for Ryan.

I'd say the Bills are a desperate team.

So I guess the Niners are planning to hire Quinn lets hope Atlanta hires Adam Gase as opposed to McDaniels.
Marone is still out there as is some others I don't love that Ryan seems to have a great defense to terrorize us time to break the bank for receivers.

All defense and no QB. But, hey, that worked out before with the JEST, right Rex?

And, Rex, just a reminder...you play 14 other teams on the schedule besides the Patriots twice.

Rumor is Quinn is the Jets next HC.

It seems likely McDaniels goes to Altanta? IMO

I guess Ryan did not come to Buffalo to kiss "Belichicks' rings" ?

Roman is very good OC . His QB tied him up badly but the years before they were one of the more creative offenses especially in the running game.

Schefter also notes:

Bills expected to hire former 49ers OC Greg Roman as new OC to go along with Rex Ryan, per sources. The two worked together in Baltimore.

Roman is very experienced at working with mobile QBs, so he'd be a good choice to try and salvage Eric Manuel. Don't know if that can be done, but with no 1st round pick and a lousy QB class, I'm sure it will be a priority.

Iam Rexed out . Wanted some less noise in the division, guess its not happening now.

That's where I am too. He's an obnoxious jerk.

If i was a bills fan I would hate this hire. Bills have a terrible QB situation and Rex will in no way improve that situation, maybe if they do hire Greg Roman then it will help but the only organization thats going to have an even dumber hire is the Raiders who want to hire Sparano or Jack Del Rio.

I guess the Jets and Bills could wind up swapping HCs.

I'm not looking forward to Rex Ryan's schemes playing out with Buffalo's defensive talent.

I heard M&M discussing the possible destinations for Rex and they were talking about it from the vantage point of teams that already had offensive pieces in place and just needed some one like Rex to fix the defense. I wondered why the obvious didn't occur to them; "Why not just hire him as the defensive coordinator then"?

I don't understand why he is still in demand as a HC when he failed so miserably to coach all three phases of the game in NY.

Maybe the league just realizes that anyone working for the Rats will always look worse than they are just because the ownership is so bad.

Still, I would have preferred to get him out of the AFCE as beating the Pats will still be his Superbowl.

Would have liked to see Rex outside of the division. Hate to see the already good Bills defense get better under him. He's still missing a QB, but may be able to mask that with a tremendous D and a ball control offense.

If this happens, then we know what to expect in March: "The Bills will win the Super Bowl this year." We also know what to expect in December: the Bills will mis the playoffs.

As someone else pointed out earlier I am "Rexxed out" and really tired of his blather.

Why would any respectable franchise want this ***clown as the face of their franchise?
