Buffalo Bills hire Rex Ryan as head coach

Rex's act and defenses are already known in the AFC East. The only success he had is back when it was new. Plus no QB, no first round pick, plus he will raid the Jets for players. at least he will concentrate on beating the Jets, because it is all about him.

I would have waited for the Atlanta job, they have a good QB

Damn it I wanted Rex to go to the Falcons and turn that team around and go to or win the Super Bowl just to piss off Jets fans. Certainly don't want him to do that in Buffalo.

The thing that sucks because it means that McDaniels to Atlanta is probably a done deal.

As for Rex in Buffalo, he is walking into the same situation as the Jets. A great defense with no QB. Probably the same results.

I do not hope they get Cutler, i Think he is a better qb than many of you guys makes him to be

It it turns out to be true, then the Bills defense was and will be good. But I don't like the move for him with the QB situation as it is. This seems to be inviting a repeat of his Jets history. As I personally do not want him to be successful there, that is a good thing.

Happy to have him back as the man is entertaining. I will miss the NYC media scrutinizing him weekly, which will only encounter him twice a year now when the Bills play the Jets.

Rex is going form a situation where he has no QB and a good defense to team with a really good defense and no QB? He knows the AFC East well so that's an advantage and we know him too.

Wonder if he and Schwatrz (he'd the DC, right?) will get along. if Rex was smart he'd hire an OC who wants to fast track to a HC in 2-3 years to take that part over.

Also, does this mean JMD is the leading candidate for Atlanta?

curious what their plan at QB is..

Exactly. The Bills better keep or get someone to sort it out, because Rex can't do it... IMHO, that was the issue in NJ. Ryan's gone from inability to groom a new QB, to an org who doesn't have an established QB.

He has played 9 seasons and seen 2 playoff games. Cutler is a less likable, less successful version of Brett Favre. All the failures (interceptions, bad decisions, price tag, etc.) with few of the positives (physical talent but does not add to team chemistry, leadership). If the Bills pay for him, then it is a certainty that they are doomed.

I can't wait for his first presser lol

Awesome!
Welcome back rex.
He makes the division more entertaining.

Suddenly even Bills Jets is interesting.

By the way, I'll be the first to say that I now hate the Bills more than the Jets. Which is sad, because I've always liked Buffalo.

I'm thrilled that Rex is back in the division. It will give me more of a reason to hate the Bills, at team I'm currently finding myself rooting for more than I should. I'm glad his back in the division because he's a bad HC, who seems not to be interested in improving his weaknesses, but rather trying to prove that everyone else is wrong about him.

On the plus side, he'll be a PR asset, and entertaining as all hell for the fans and media. The defense won't get worse, and his players will like him better than Marrone. On the negative side, his game management will still be horrible, his attention to detail will still be lacking, his commitment to accountability still won't be there, and finally in the end, his dedication to his personal self promotion will always take precedence over building a team that can win long term.

I think he's taking the Bills job because that's the only one he's been offered. I think Blank/Dimitroff/Pioli are too astute to offer their HCing job to Rex. They see through the personal charisma and are aware of his fatal flaws as a HC. If Rex wanted to go do what he's best at, he would have taken one of those TV jobs

From one bust QB from the 2013 draft to another. Two very similar teams in terms of the way they're built although there's a better secondary and receivers at the Bills. But no first round pick for Rex to enjoy.
And no 4th, either., but they do have TB's 5th and alot of cap.

Nah! Cutler is a big armed meathead. Take away his arm strength and he would be out of the league by now.

Boy, these AFC East teams can't get out of their own way.

The Bills were set on defense, they were already one of the best in the league. The last thing they needed was another head coach who knows nothing about offense.

Good for us, dumb for them.

Maybe we should do a pool about the date of his first fistfight with Schwartz.

Sanchez to Philly in the off season? lol

If Eagles pass on signing him, I could see Rex giving him a "We have a real OC now, let's go finish what we started" speech.
