I agree. TT hasn't shown consistency over his NFL career (his consistency is more of putting up poor stats). One would think that alone would make him an unlikely candidate for making a BB team (I think BB uses the word "consistency" every time he speaks about football in a non presser environment). The one contrary point I would make is if a guy can do it occasionally, he may be able to be trained into doing it consistently. If that's true then it's a matter of cap (he's a minimum cost isn't he?) and if a roster spot is worth the risk/reward to wait out the results of the training. IMHO the answer to that second part is no. The Patriots have A LOT of young guys that need maturing. Every roster spot is critical but that makes the roster spot even more critical. IMHO TT had to have come in and make a case that the skill set he brought to the table was worth keeping/using.

With that said, I had hoped BB could use his singular focus to turn TT into an asset of not only being a serviceable backup but also utilizing his specific skillset to run a successful trick play or two or three at defenses. Getting those plays on game film, making opposing defenses have to be concerned with it, spend practice time preparing for it. But I just don't see that coming to fruition....

If you're a long time Pats fan (or old, if you prefer) you remember the 1985 Bears. They dared you to throw every play and Dan Marino is the only one i can recall who made them pay for it. In a copy cat league, Tebow will turn every team into the 85 Bears (or more recent Giants) because no one will fear he can beat the rush with quick, accurate passes to open receivers.

This is the pros, if you can't deliver, you are prey.

When Christiancat sits through last nights' entire game and is on this website watching the game thread and says nothing while Tebow is embarassing himself in front of tens of thousands of Patriots fans, there is the true intent of this member.

Christiancat - I don't care what Ben Volin has to say. I let me eyes tell me the story and Christiancat considering that you are using Ben Volin as an inference that last night meant nothing to Tebow's roster chances considerably slipping, then that makes your comments ignorable because that is all you have.

At least some of the Tebow clamorers are admitting that last night was not a step in the right direction in many ways.

How does dyslexia effect how your read defenses and throw a football???

I thought that diagnosis was mostly about reading???

From an interview by Timmy..

"So much in football is touching, feeling, walking through, writing it on boards, drawing Xs and Os," Tebow said. "And all those are the best for me."

Are some saying that because if he has dyslexia, he should be given an exemption to make this team???? Maybe tomorrow, there will be another excuse found..

Belichick & McDaniels signed Tebow knowing he's a project. What he does during the week has far greater impact than what he does in games

Basically ChristianCat the Tebow supporters, yourself obviously included, are reduced to making the argument that Tim Tebow should make the Patriots because.............. He's Tim Tebow.

There is nothing in his performance at any point in time in New England that supports his making this team because he is good enough to make it. And if Belichick decides to give him a roster spot simply because he is Tim Tebow then he is doing himself and this team a real injustice and he is going to lose real credibility with not only the fans but with his players, as you cannot make roster decisions based upon cult worship. Now given that Belichick has both absolute power in NE and complete credibility with his team he would be able to weather that storm but it would still bring his judgement into question as the one thing that has stood out above all else in this year's camp and pre-season is that Tim Tebow is not a good enough player to be on this team, and by all rights should be the next release this team makes.

Can you imagine the discussion that we would be having if this was Rohan Davey, Michael Bishop, Damon Huard, Scott Zolak, Hugh Millen, or any other backup quarterback that has been in a Patriots training camp compounded by having the night that Tim Tebow had last night or has had in this camp?

This conversation would not be about the player itself but if the team should try and find a new backup quarterback because it is obvious that he is not going to be helping this team.

It made sense to me to try to progress Tebow in a system like NE. He still has elite running skills, great feet and a big arm. His work ethic is superb, and he is by all accounts a great leader.

While his accuracy probably will always stink (even if he fixes the mechanics) the decision making can and will improve with time. So he isn't entirely hopeless, but he's many years away from being a starting level NFL QB, and still far from being even a serviceable backup. But I mean, the upside is pretty big all the same. It's not every day that you get a guy with that type of intangibles and secondary talents.

I do think he can be useful to the team in other ways, in particular showing them some looks of a read option player.

Anyway, I dont want to see him starting anytime soon if ever, but I'm not entirely sold on the 'cut him now, he'll never be any good camp'.
That's all wrong. If tebow can't process mentally by now then he's hopeless. Pats were playing against Glennon, a rookie qb. Compare tebow with 4 yrs experience to Glennon with one training camp. Glennon is an actual qb . Tebow is hopeless.

And stop with the "elite skills great work ethic". Tons of guys who live for football don't get the chance tebow did. Its a disgrace.

If he were a truly honest person he'd tell them to cut him. He's a waste of time and Is ******ing other players development. Plus he took some aspiring young qbs shot. He knows how awful he is. He's making a spectacle out of himself, a laughingstock.

Honestly that's a role typically reserved for a practice squad guy. Keeping him around for that reason just doesn't make sense because as I said in another thread, looking at recent history in terms of injuries they really need his roster spot to give them depth so that they can have guys who can actually play and contribute in a game. Either make him something other than a QB and use his athleticism or let him go.

... Tim Tebow is not a good enough player to be on this team, and by all rights should be the next release this team makes.

I strenuously disagree. We do not want Ryan Mallett or Tom Brady taking a single snap in the 4th quarter of the next two exhibition games. That is Tim Tebow's job.

Tim Tebow should be released with gratitude and genuine respect on the day after the last pre-season game. He came in for no guaranteed money, kept his mouth shut, worked hard, and handled this opportunity in a dignified way.

I have the same feeling about Tebow's tenure as I had about Tiquan Underwood's and how he handled being released just before the 2011 Super Bowl.

I didn't get to watch the 2nd half.
Sounds like it was bad lol.
ya ever see the movie titanic? it was like that, but didnt end as well.

If Bob Kraft wants squeaky clean Tim Tebow as part of his organization, he
should hire him as team chaplain. Tim could lead the team in pre and post
game devotions.

I would be pleased to have Tebow as minister at my church, just not as a
quarterback on my favorite football team.

I completely agree.....I don't want to see Brady or Mallett taking a snap in the final game either and I would not be surprised, in the least, that another camp arm is brought in just in case Tebow got hurt. Tyler Thigpen is a free agent. He would be more than adequate as a camp arm.

An Ian Logue tweet....:):)

ha! It was really mean of God to tease Tebow by pretending to injure Tom on Tebow's birthday, only to give him his full power back to thoroughly embarrass Timmy in the next preseason game. God clearly is a Tom Brady fan.

Yeah, but my problem with this is the wasted reps for the guys fighting for a roster spot. The WRs and TEs who needed to show themselves off for the coaches last night got no chance whatsoever with negative yardage through a whole half of play. Totally wasted opportunities. How are they supposed to do their jobs if no catchable balls are thrown at them?

No one is coming anywhere near close to saying that. Brady6 has posited that perhaps Tebow's dyslexia causes problems with his visual processing and/or quick decision making. That more reps and continued development won't be able to "fix" the problem.

This part is largely overblown. The coaches will look at the film and they will still be able to see how receivers/te's are doing wrt blocking assignments, routes and getting separation.

That is exactly what I think he is here for. He is a camp arm, to reduce the number of throws that Brady/Mallett have to make, either in camp or in preseason game.

The type of offense he runs on the field when he is on, has absolutely zero resemblance to the offense Brady runs. It is strictly an one dimensional option offense which only reinforces my belief that he is gone before the final cut to the 53. Even if Brady and then Mallett go down, we still are not going to reinvent the offense just to accompany a limited quarterback.

Agreed. He'll never be able to mentally process the NFL game. The dude is stupid. He relied on instinct, not smarts, in his college game, like Vince Young, and like Young, he just doesn't have the mental chops to make it at the next level, where intelligence and polish is a must. All he's doing right now is providing Sanchez-esque comic relief.

He is a "Mike Vick wannabe" without the nefarious tendencies.

I disagree. Seeing how these guys perform under live game conditions is crucial, for the development of the player and for evaluation purposes for the coach. What's more important than live-game experience for their evaluation? You only get a brief amount of preseason games to test these guys, and they literally got nothing (less than nothing, actually) last game.

It goes to show how much more advanced and more difficult the NFL game is than the college game. Because Tim Tebow was an absolutely PHENOMENAL college quarterback, in basically every way. His running stats, his passing stats were both off the charts great, and, oh by the way, he won a Heisman and two national championships playing in the most NFL-like conference in America.

And yet he really can't seem to do what the NFL requires of him at the position. I mean, if the Pats ever wanted to commit to a running QB kind of game, I guess, but clearly that's not desirable.
