Free Agency For New England May Involve Defensive Tackles
By: Steve Balestrieri

And yet many people scarcely remember Anthony Pleasant, Bobby Hamilton and Keith Traylor, and Ted Washington....

BB always had a man crush with Tom Kelly

Desmond Bryant makes a lot of sense. I hope it happens.

Bryant would be an excellent signing. He's not Red, but would still be a nice addition next to Vince.

Jonathan Fanene...I hear he's fantastic:D

Desmond Bryant. This guy could be a big time FA bargain. Doubt he'll go for too much.

Chris Price seems to think Mike DeVito is a possibility.

The Red Bryant contract falling apart last moment and Fanene bust is really killing us. Instead of being set at another position we're stuck scrambling to fix it. It's a pretty massive hole next to Wilfork and heaven forbid Wilfork gets hurt.

Also goes with Reggie Wayne who was 50-50 between us and the Colts. Him and Lloyd with Edelman as depth and the #3.

We would likely have ~12 million in cap space for FA (as opposed to ~18) and our only needs would be bringing Talib back and getting a better than horrible safety to replace Gregory.

Red/Reggie are almost as painful what-ifs as Chad Jackson+Laurence Maroney / MJD+Greg Jennings. Switch those and we are looking at a dynasty (not that we weren't close anyways).

If the Pats had signed Red Bryant and Reggie Wayne, then they would have had to cut players to get under the cap last year, and they'd have about $3M of cap room after Bryant, Wayne, and rookies (and minus Fanene).

Also, Bryant isn't a DT. They've tried him there, and he doesn't have the leverage to do it. He's a 3-4 DE or a big 4-3 LE. And the Seahawks fans that I've read from say he wasn't even that good, especially in the playoff games.
