i am interested in what he took..but as you all know we will never know what it was

Re: News: Brandon Bolden Suspended/ PEDs

Wtf Brandon.

He's gone, undrafted rookie, BB will have none of that. Too bad, because he'd be a great #2 back and showed potential to be a main back.

Please dude. This ain't no thang. They'll just tell him to tighten up his 'training schedule', if you know what I mean. PEDs are rampant and accepted in the NFL. It's wink-wink, hush-hush nowadays, but it's present everywhere.

People look at McGwire and Bonds and say it's obvious they were roiding, well half the NFL players make McGwire and Bonds look like pop warner players. You know what I'm saying?

tough break guys

more of a pr nightmare than any big loss to your team though

I think Bolden will be back and productive at the end of suspension but damn... 4 games without pay. He's making around 350k and has to forfeit 90k of that. Chump change compared to the big name NFL players, but to an undrafted rookie that's a fortune. And I'm sure most people on the forum here don't even make 90k a year.

Considering they just traded for a guy who punched a cab driver I don't think Brandon is getting cut for this.

Nor should he be cut for it...at least not necessarily. My hunch says it is naive to believe BB or Saint Dungy (when he was coaching) or the Harbaugh brothers etc etc etc believe they have no players active on Sunday using PEDs (in some form). IMHO it would be grossly hypocritical to play these players on Sunday only to cut them in a sanctimonious act when their usage becomes known. They get fined, they get suspended, they lose pay. Being fired for it shouldn't have to be automatic.

I'm probably in a significant minority on this next issue; I don't necessarily have anything against HGH usage (or the like) for injury related treatment (not to say this was the case with Bolden). These guys are playing a dangerous game where their brains are battered, their knees are shredded, their muscles are ripped, ligaments are torn etc etc. But for god's sake! Don't dare let them use medical science to help repair the damage to their bodies that occurred in the course of sports entertainment. That could be dangerous!!

Good timing I guess. Let him heal up and get some fresh legs in the backfield in 4 weeks. A big 'meh' to anyone who thinks this is really big deal either. You hear about guys testing positive all the time now. The fact that this disturbs a lot of Pats fans to the point of calling for him to be cut shows a streak of sanctimony in the fanbase that I imagine fans of other teams can't stand.

Above anything else, the kid used poor judgement. Teams the NFLPA make it clear as day that the player is responsible for injesting anything into their bodies. If they are not 100% certain of what it will do to them they check with the team and the league and get clarification. Sometimes players will lean on other players for guidence which is not smart. Maybe the kid took too much. Maybe the kid knew he was doing wrong but said, 'screw it'. Who knows. I'd be interesting to see what the actual substance was....

I hope Bolden has the sense to fall on the sword, beg for forgiveness, promise he'll never do it again and follow CoP for the rest of his career.

I always find it interesting that with a league of 100s of players only a handful a year get nailed for flunking a drug test. To me, that means they wern't paying attention or didn't know how to beat the system. It's incredible what these guys put in their bodies that would kill a small cow but get them to play on Sundays.

Silver lining then would be you could activate Shiancoe now and only make a decision in 4 weeks.

he's a rookie, so the more experience he gets on the field the better. BB is not one who likes to play rookies in key spots down the stretch. Remember what happensd to Spikes during his rookie year? suspended for 4 games at the end of the 2010 season...came back for the playoffs but didn't look the same.

So he's down to $260k? Somehow I don't feel too bad for him as far as that goes.

True, but net is probably 70% or less of that amount, so something in the neighborhood of $170,000 before state and local taxes kick in.

I had high hopes for Bolden, but now I doubt he'll be on the team after this year.

I think the only way he doesn't make the team is if injuries continue to be an issue. On the field he's looked like our best runner at times and I highly doubt BB would part ways with him over one suspension, too much potential.

Did you say the same thing after Spikes got nailed? Why is this situation different?

4 games for Performance enhancing drug.

A joke.

Never understood that. Should be 12 months minimum. If they really want a "Clean" sport.

If ... (It's the NFL: it is what it is -- no point in deluding ourselves.)

This ain't the Tour de France. Most of this stuff is HGH and I could care less about "clean" in a contact sport where being able to come back from injuries quickly is almost a requirement for keeping your job.
