You're right.
After this, they should interview his mother. I bet people in this board would then realize this is actually a top 10 pick, and that Bill got the steal of the draft.
Jamarcus Russell, Vernon Gholston enough saidSorry, but seriously, what does his coach know? We have many draft experts right here who apparently researched his game tape extensively prior to the draft despite the fact that he wasn't invited to the combine and wasn't listed in any of the draft guides. These guys really do there homework and have apparently studied extensively and analyzed every player in college football, and they know what Belichick and his staff clearly don't, that Tavon sucks. Mel may not have researched Tavon, but our very own draft gurus clearly have, and have shared their insights on him based on their extensive knowledge of his play, we shouldn't take issue with their research and findings.

Should be, but I included about a hundred other examples to back it up, that however will never be enough to derail the draft experts who don't actually watch anything but just regurgitate what idiots like Kiper say over and over. we have reached absolute absurdity now with one guru after another proclaiming their own genius and decrying the pick, they know best,. Belichick knows crap and is ruining this franchise with all his sucky drafts, what a bunch of clowns.
No, my money is with the draft experts who have never seen him play, they clearly know best.
The New England Patriots raised some eyebrows amongst draft experts and fans by selecting Illinois safety Tavon Wilson
Why is Kiper ill-informed and why did you single him out? Is there one scout or media guy out there who had him as high as a 4th round value?
PS. no one here is questioning the guy's versatility.
"I think everybody is always looking for a safety that can play man, and play in these multiple formations and so forth, can play man-to-man on that inside receiver guy, and he’s a guy that can do that.”
Who said he is ruining the franchise?
You don't think guys like Mayock watch tape? Which guys don't watch any tape, the guys on Bleacher Report?
Media guys are entitled to their opinion. That's their jobs and we support their jobs by clicking on their sites.

I watched NFLN on draft day.
Same thing happened with Ridley the year before.
McCourty the year before that.
Mayock admitted he really didn't know anything about them. Then qualified an opinion on what he did know. Then speculated what he thought BB would like.
My guess is Mayock would have used stronger opinionated language if BB drafted that Burfict dude.
That's different than knowing squat and then providing a scathing indictment.
You know Whitney Mercilus also plays for Illinois right?
Honestly, you people make no sense sometimes trying to defend BB choices.
Draft experts base their opinions on tape. Of course they have seen Wilson play, and based on that, they gave him a 7th round grade. BB interviewed the kid and had private workouts with him, and based on that and tape, drafted him in the 2nd.
And we shouldn't take anything from his coach comments, of course he would have only nice things to say about him, he coached him for 4 years.

The fact that BB took him at #48 tells me:
1. More than one team had him rated that high.
2.BB was informed that another team was getting ready to take Wilson.
3. If no other team wanted Wilson in the middle if the second round, BB would have traded #48 and got more, then taken Wilson at 62.
