So...What's your gut feeling on the Super Bowl?

I will give Eli credit for getting the **** kicked out of him last game and not turning the ball over. GB win was an impressive win but I would much rather play the NYG than the GB packers in the SB.. I just think GB did what we did last year.. got a first round bye maybe a little over confident and made mistakes.

My gut feeling tells me we are going to win.. but I think its going to be a very interesting and well played game. I think the Giants secondary will get beat against are TE's.. I just hope are O line holds up for TFB.

Eli I would think he is going to be putting up some points against our secondary.. If we lose the turn over battle in this game I don't see us winning. But the Giants are due for a bad game hopefully its the SB.

While the Ravens D line is not as good as the Giants the D as a whole certainly is better than the Giants. We were able to run the ball with authority against the Ravens, I can't see why we couldn't do the same against the Giants. Also our D Line has been fantastic lately if the Giants can only pass that (strangely) falls in our favor. One key turnover could drastically change this game. Its my opinion that that turnover is far more likely to come from the pass than the run. If Eli has to throw 60 times like he did in SF we win.

Since when has the team that won 5 in row hotter than the team that's won 10 in a row???? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills or something. Have the Pats just got to the point that winning streaks of less than 15 don't even get noticed anymore?

Exhibit 1 : The vaunted speed Pass rush of Denver Broncos. How'd that go the 2nd time around ?

This OL is much much superior to the 2007 juggernaut which peaked midway thru the season and then limped their way thru playoffs.

This time the Offense is balanced. The DL and LB are push, and while secondary is weaker, the Defense is peaking now and far more healthier than the scrubs that played against the Gints in Reg season due to injuries

There is nothing up the sleeve needed. Just smash mouth football and as BB says....DO YOUR JOB !

I expect nothing bust the best from our strong willed team. Even BB has said openly this is one of the most mentally tough team he has had in a long time !! After 5-3 they've reeled of 10 straight wins !

Relax and Enjoy the SB and have faith in our team.

I like your optimism. Your exhibit 1 is questionable, though. The Giants defensive line is much more physically imposing than Denver's. Yet, New York's defense seems a notch below Baltimore. Maybe we do win a shootout.

My gut feeling?

This has statement game written all over it. I really feel the Pats are going to come out and lay a biblical beatdown on the Giants in the first and second quarters. I can't quantify it, and it flies in the face of rational analysis and what my head says, but that's my gut feeling.

I don't know what to make of this game...
After the Giants won the NFC I thought we would blow them out.
I thought the Giants can only hold back our offense for so many games and that we're bound to break them eventually, like we have most every other defense.

I figured Brady, coming off a lackluster performance against the Ravens, would bounce back and put on his Superbowl performance of his life - a Superbowl performance for the ages.

Now... I don't know. The more I think about it, the more my gut feeling shifts from us winning, to us losing by a hair, to something going horribly wrong and us losing by a lot... Superbowl 42 has me traumatized still.

What I will say is the Ravens game shouldn't have been as close as it was. So we should take some confidence from that. The third quarter TD that got Revans back in the game was scored via the Revan receiver dragging the Patriot defense man into the end zone with an 8 yard long face mask that was never called. It should have been a personal foul. We should have put the Ravens away, not "squeaked" by.

So that makes me confident.

And I think our defense has come a long way since the regular season game against the Giants. Sergio Brown is no longer at cornerback... that should help.

Remember they only beat us last time because he gave Eli a needless PI in the end zone on a pass and pray bomb from 50 yards out in the final minute.
I'm confident we'll avoid those mistakes this game and so i'm confident we'll win.

God how ******* great would that be.

I don't see it....

Ayers 6-3 274
Bunkley 6-2 306
Dumervill 5-11 260
Harvey 6-5 268
M. Thomas 6-3 316
McBean 6-5 305
Hunter 6-4 271
Miller 6-3 237
William 6-1 242

Granted Broncos generate pressure from LB position also, i.e. Miller, Williams. Seems like we handled DL(Dumervil) and LB pretty well in the 2nd meeting

It would. I want to will a blow out.
I want the Giants to feel absolute heart break, even at the expense of an "exciting" Superbowl for the rest of the nation.

I hope we crush their spirits by the end of the 1st half, forcing them to play 30 minutes of football knowing they have no hope of winning.

I remember just before the Bills 2nd Superbowl. They were facing a Redskins team that didn't have as much talent, and that they likely should have beaten.

But, they were uber-motivated by their previous year's loss. Madden said before the game, "It's possible that the Bills want this game TOO much." And the game was over by halftime.

Kinda getting that vibe on this one...

Gut feeling says we absolutely steamroll them, similar to 07, though there is a tiny bit of fear in the back this time.

  • We take advantage of a "soft" schedule and get HFA through the playoffs and a much needed bye.
  • Along the way, we beat Indy (prolly our longest, deepest rival in the BB/TB ear) and the Jets (x2), who handed us prolly one of our biggest (top-5 for sure) post-season losses ever last year.
  • We have a defense, that while playing much better lately is one that have given us ALL fits all year long and is suspect.
  • We draw a cheesy HS offense and overall weak opponent in the first round and we kill them rather easily. Of course it happens to be a team that handed us a huge post season loss in 05 too.
  • We get a second chance at a Ravens team that devastatingly ended or 09 season in what could be termed another top-5 heartbreaker losses
  • In that game, almost NOTHING goes our way and we have zero momentum to carry us to a OT win, when their kicker goes Ray Finkle on us and virtually HANDS us the win outright. Think about it...... when ranking high percentage points scoring plays, a 32 yrd FG is very high on that list. We could go 20 years and not see another shanked 32 yarder to outright lose a playoff game.
  • On the other side of the Conference an average team gets "hot" after a mediocre year and makes it to a Super Bowl that probably 3-4 other teams in that conference are prolly more deserving of. Oh yeah........ it happens to be the EXACT same team that handed us our MOST DEVASTATING loss in franchise history that got into that game in the EXACT SAME fashion.

Think about it....... You rarely get opportunities in your life to "go back" and redo something that you have regretted in life. This Patriots team has that opportunity RIGHT NOW. It's a gift that WILL NOT be lost on the Greatest Coach that has ever roamed the sidelines and the greatest QB to have ever picked up the pigskin.......

No way we lose this game..........

I will enjoy ever minute of this next two weeks and I hope that all of you do too.

I like it.

I came home today, saw my new SI, Brady screaming his lungs out with hard joy on the cover, and my gut feeling began telling me..

(Ok, there's a squirrel water-skiing on the evening news right now. A squirrel.)

...it began telling me that there are times in sports history where everything just comes out right. Where you can sit there with your 11-year old boy and say, "Son, come watch history being made. You can tell your grandkids the night you saw Tom Brady become the Greatest of all Time, and no one will ever be able to argue it again. Come watch a very emotional rematch, and let me tell you (again) what it all means..".

My gut tonight tells me this could be one of the greatest nights in Boston sports history. "Brady and Belichick get their revenge".

And if it doesn't happen that way? Well, I've already scheduled that Mon and Tue off just in case. ;)

Gut feeling is that gwomen fans will be left wondering what happend.

I have mixed feelings. My head says we win a close game 55% of the time, a blowout <10%. Giants win 35%. My heart says we beat the living crap, Wilfork eats Eli for Lunch, Brady has a Superbowl performance for the ages, and BB gets his revenge. I really hope my heart is right...

This game is giving me the same feeling i had when the patriots beat the 14-2 CHargers.

The pats defense was suppose to be shredded by that tOMLINSON and rivers, but the pats and bill found someway to win it anyway.

the game is in bill's hand.

My gut feeling tells me the Giants win. For the most part I think it is an even match. However and for whatever reason the Pats cannot ever bring Manning down when they need to. He always seems to squirm away and find his receivers. What it comes down to is the Pats secondary vs Manning and his set of receivers. Pats secondary is not great at coverage nor it is great at tackling. That is where I think the Giants will win the game. :(

Sad to see so many of me fellow fans so scared. Its pretty rare to a team who lost to a team in the regular season to lose to them again in the superbowl. Its also very rare for a team to beat BB twice in the same season.

Every one is afraid that the giants will come out with the same game plan as the 07-08 superbowl..I HOPE they try the same junk again. Bring it.

This game wont be close

35-17 pats.

I feel that the Giants pass rush is going to be a problem for the Patriots, the Patriots will not be able to throw the ball well because the Giants will flood the middle of the field and the Patriots lack an outside receiving threat.

I also believe that the Patriots will not be able to cover the three headed receiving monster of Nicks, Manningham and Cruze, while also covering the TE Ballard; and the Giants running game with a healthy Bradshaw is going to be tough to stop.

So, I think the Patriots will lose this game, the Giants are healthy and have made it to the Superbowl through a trial by fire. They've beaten a top offense and a top defense to get to the Superbowl...Patriots have beaten seriously flawed teams.

I hate to say it, but I don't like the Patriots chances at all.

Pass rush on Brady is another issue. I am not that concerned about the running game though. Pats did a great job last week stopping the run and the way I look at it if the Giants are running then that is good news for the pats secondary.

Giants have been on fire lately and have played and beat all the top NFC teams on the road. Giants receiver are way too good for the pats secondary. I think the score will end up beaning 32-14 Giants.
