Re: Pats/Bils game on NFLN replay now
Just finished going through the 1st quarter and here are the significant events I noticed defensively:
1st drive:
4th and 1 from their own 45ish. Fake punt. 1st down. Yuck, but well executed by them.
Next play Molden is looking up for the ball, the receiver slows down, Moldon runs in to him as they both try for the ball at the 4 yard line. Pass interference. Should've been incidental at best.
2 plays later Love spins and ends up blocking Chung from making a tackle on Choice. TD. Just ugly.
2nd drive:
Molden caught playing 10 yards off of Hagan. 1st down.
Sack makes it 2nd and 13. Molden once again playing 8 yards off Hagan, lets him make a 9 yard reception. A trend seems to be appearing...
Johnson drops the ball, they go for it on 4th and 4 from our 31. Nate Jones trys to bump Johnson at the line and completely wiffs which gives Johnson an easy catch for the 1st down. Can't commit like that if you aren't going to hit him!
2nd and 6 from the 18, Arrington playing 7 yards off Johnson and doesn’t even turn around to start chasing him until the ball is being thrown and Johnson already has half a yard on him. Ihedigbo not near close enough to help. TD. A nice throw, but poor, poor play by Arrington.
3rd drive:
Chandler completely open, 6 yard gain.
2nd and 4 Fletcher gets absolutely burned by Martin, 13 yard gain.
Jones burned by someone (couldn’t see) for another 1st down.
Fletcher burned and no help from McCourty or Chung nearby. 23 yard gain by Roosevelt. They just threw with impunity on us. We truly couldn't stop a nosebleed on this drive.
Anderson and Warren let Spiller slip through for a 10 yard gain.
They run a pick route and Fletcher can’t switch fast enough, he slips by and then Chung, Arrington, Ihedigbo and Jones all try to pat him on the back on his way in to the end zone. TD. Right up the middle. Was a nice play, and should've gotten them a first down, not a touchdown.
It was just sickening to watch that again. However, looking back over it, it's mostly fixable. In my opinion we've gotten better as the year has gone on (maybe not as noticable statwise, and certainly set back at times due to injury) and I feel confident that with two weeks of rest and preparation, we can put together the 3 best games of the season and do something special. Expecially knowing what is coming up in the next 3 quarters
