Gregg Easterbrook thinks the pats may be cheating

This board is not the football team itself. There is no need to go hunting for bulletin board material so the people here will cheer harder on Sundays. If people find a writer/commentator they don't like, they can simply choose not to read/watch/listen.

What is that that Richard Seymour used to say, "The wind blows hardest at the top of the mountain"?

I never heard of him! Clearly a popular writer ;)

Passt don't tell anybody Greg but i Know how its done. Brady wears a wet suit, it keeps him warm but doesn't hamper his throwing motion/ability. You could call it wet gate

In writing this piece Easterbrook looks like a Fool.

I know this does not deserve the time of day, but I gotta say this:

Gregg Easterbrook is like Ron Borges with an Ivy League diploma.

You can put lipstick on a pig....... :bricks: :bricks: :bricks:

**** you, Easterbrook...

He doesn't have an Ivy League diploma. I don't know where you got that from.

I would be shocked if anyone with a degree from an Ivy League school currently works for ESPN. SHOCKED

maybe gregg should read this

Q: How about the spying thing Jimmy. You’re a coach does that bother you what Belichick did?
JJ: Oh please. I’ve said it on our show. Eighteen years ago a scout for the Chiefs told me what they did, and he said what you need to do is just take your camera and you go and zoom in on the signal caller and that way you can sync it up. The problem is that if they’re not on the press box side you can’t do it from the press box, you have to do it from the sideline. This was 18 years ago.

He heard those arguments in 2007 and didn't care (see the ESPN Ombudsman article critiquing his sensationalist articles in 2007). One of the many reasons he is a waste of air and not worth mentioning on this site.

This is minor league compared to the ultimate Benedict Arnold: John Tomase

It's a non-story.

I guess I should have clarified by saying I had no idea what college he went to or what degree he has... Just that he SOUNDS like an Ivy League snob, even if he isn't actually one. He's creative with words, but he knows ZILCH about sports.

Yeah. People still believe the Patriots video taped that walk-through. It's ridiculous. I don't know if the Tomase should shoulder the brunt of the blame for this or the generally ignorant NFL fans (mostly just the blind Patriots haters) and other sports media alike. It's really stupid.

I guess I should reconcile as well.

Chris Berman has a History degree from Brown. FWIW. I don't think it really matters, what degree a sports reporter has, but I just thought it was surprising to hear that a blathering idiot had a degree from a prestigious university.

Gregg Easterbrook? Do you mean the Gregg Easterbrook that is a senior editor at The New Republic, which has had no fewer then SIX SCANDALS in the past 15 years? Some involving plagiarism, false reporting and out and out dishonest reporting?

That guy? Are we sure he's the most credible guy we should be listening too?

Seriously, this guy is an anti-semetic hack that's already been fired from ESPN before they caved re-hired him back.

Seriously, this hack will say anything to get clicks. He's also a documented Belichick hater and spygate fanatic.

Nothing new here.

I have a feeling the more the Pats keep winning, the more writers like those we have seen this past week or so (King, Easterbrook, Sando) are going to dust off their old SG stories on a regular basis.

Umm, Peter King is actually trying to, um, crawl back into the Patriots' good graces.

In any case, though, no man in human history has been paid as much to be as wrong about as many things as Gregg Easterbrook.

As I've said, this is Walsh's paradox: If a tape exists, why hasn't it become public yet?

Because it doesn't exist.

I've read many articles this season where people still throw around that "the Patriots allegedly video taped the Rams walk through practice at Super Bowl ___."

I'm just relaying that this is annoying and dirty, when it has been clearly established that this completely false.

5 words "THE ENVY OF THE LEAGUE"

The worst thing about all of this is that the league continues to allow the press and other blathering mediots and reportards to continue throwing our the "Cheat" canard.

There was NO cheating. The NFL NEVER accused New England of cheating. The Patriots & Coach were fined for a violation of the NFL Operations Manual, and NOT the Game Rules.

It is NOT illegal to "steal" an opponents signals. It is NOT illegal to tape them. It was WHERE the camera was positioned that was in violation of the NFL Operations Manual.

Respects,

I don't think using phrases such as "secretly videotaping" and saying "I'm not attempting to minimize what the Patriots did wrong. Roger Goodell was right to take away a first-round pick and whack the Pats $750,000 for the misdeed." should be characterized as trying to crawl back into the Patriots' good graces.

Both King and Easterbrook felt compelled to write something positive about the team with the best record in the league after thumping division leaders in consecutive weeks - pretty difficult to not do so after those last two games. And at the same time both could not avoid tempering those accolades; neither one could resist bringing up SG and taking a swipe at the Pats at the same time they were lauding them.
