Anyone a little nervous about Shayne Graham?

Yes of course but at the same time what can you do. When your kicker goes down it's going to be a struggle to replace, it's not like there are automatic kickers sitting there on the waiver wire for the taking. I think the Colts had pretty good success replacing Vinatieri last year, can't remember who it was but just that he was very old. Still he missed a key FG in the super bowl. Nothing we can really do right now to make it any better so won't do any good to worry.

Anyone shaking over Graham must have missed the jets game.

That kick-off was his 7th of the night and it was about 5 yards deep into the endzone. It was also a balmy 38 degrees.

His career average for kick-offs is only 61.8. So, his kick-offs will be an issue. But remember that he played in Cincinnati so he's had cold weather games playing in Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Cincy, and Baltimore. He's not Gost, but he's not garbage either.

I didn't say he was "garbage," just that it was reasonable to have concerns.

I take your cold weather point, but I seem to remember #4 making a couple of nice cold weather kicks, one of them from 45 yards, into a blizzard, on a snowy night in Foxboro a few years back...:)

I blame the missed extra point on BB foolishly trading away our number 1 WR and food critique extraordinaire Randy Moss. While it may not seem apparent at first what the connection -- don't worry there isn't one. But every other time the Pats didn't score the Moss trade has been blamed...so for the purposes of consistency we must blame the Moss trade for this missed kick.

He'll be fine. Obviously the Pats had to sign someone who wasn't w/another team. He'll make his kicks, and he'll miss a couple too, hopefully not crucial ones.

There's not a lot of guys like Adam V. in his prime. This guy'll be OK.

That's the problem. Anyone available must have something wrong with them. I know, I read it at Patfans.

That was why the signing of Woodhead was a mistake. If he was any good the Jets would not have let him go. :D

Did you see him kick in the playoffs last year!?!?

I don't feel good about Graham but there's no-one good available, I guess Matt Stover must have retired.

I know this board like to complain about pretty much every little thing, but I'm pretty sure BB is at least somewhat worried about the kicking right now. But what can you do? Gost got hurt.

Didn't say you did..

As for the FG by Vinatieri, that was almost 10 years ago... And it wasn't at Heinz field..

Well, the guy had a complete meltdown in the playoffs last year, single-handedly costing his team a chance to advance, he's 60 pounds overweight, and his kicks travelled in a trajectory that I've only seen in high school games. What's to be worried about?

Who would you have picked up?

He has a higher career field goal percentage than Gostkowski and Vinatieri and kicked a 53 yard field goal last year.

Shayne's played for 9 teams since 2000.

Sometimes its not what you find inthe line stats that tell the story.

I also have to say Wakefield should be a bit embarrassed someone in Boston has a better knuckler than he does.

How do you know he's 60 pounds over-weight?

I wouldn't call 2 missed field goals at the Meadowlands a "complete meltdown"?

Carson Palmer threw an interception that led directly to a Jets TD, but Graham's missed field goals cost them the game they lost by 9 points??

dont want to get off topics, but Adam did hit the longest field goal (at the time) at Heinz field into the open end in the 2004 season (technically 2005) AFCCG.

He's played for nine teams? You're sure about that? I have him playing every game but two, seven years in a row for the Bengals.

Well, you're definitely telling a story, I'm just not sure if it's based on reality.

Did you post the available kicker you would rather we picked up? I didn't see it.

Seriously, did you guys miss the jets game? Folk 3 missed field goals, one at the 26 yard line and we are crying over a missed PAT by a brand new fill-in kicker working with an new snapper and holder in his first game with us ever? Really? This is what we're doing?

C'mon, give the guy a chance at least. He might not be the Ghost we know and love but he might just do a fine job filling in during his absence. The rest of the team is going to have to pick up whatever slack remains. We'll make do.
