OT: Houshmandzadeh signs for Ravens

Boldin, Housh, and Mason

Not the flashiest or 'scariest' set but damn that sounds like a tough trio to defend. With Ray Rice in the backfield who can go the distance from any point on the field.

Ravens defense may be their downfall though, which is a strange thought to what we're used to. But they're aging and already don't have Reed for a while.

No matter how much the Ravens give him, he's still going to get $7 million total between the two teams. If Baltimore pays him $3, Seattle has to give him $4; if Baltimore pays him $5 then Seattle has to give him $2, etc. The only exception would be if the Ravens (or any other teams) were going to give him more than $7 million to play this year.

Why is he limited to only $7 million?

In my opinion Houshmandzadeh is one of those overrated receivers. He's really only had 1 maybe 2 years of excellent production with Carson Palmer (who is better than Joe Flacco) throwing to him in a pass happy offense.

The Ravens have accumulated similar types and names at receiver in Boldin and Houshmandzadeh. They're not field stretching receivers and frankly, this addition whilst a good one doesn't impress me any further than what I already thought of the Ravens offense.

He's not limited to $7 million.

But apparently no NFL teams felt he was worth being paid over $7 million this season. Can't say that I disagree.

Point is there was no reason for Houshmandzadeh to demand the Ravens pay him anything more than the minimum. And there was no reason for the Ravens to offer him anything more than that. The balance will be paid to Houshmandzadeh by Seattle. Housmandzadeh was not going to make a single penny more if Baltimore paid him $2 million, $5 million, or $6.999 million.
