I want to do this without any of the Colts hate that I feel, so I waited a week to make sure that I could be objective. Having got that out of the way, I feel strongly that the Saints will win the Super Bowl, and here is why:
Colts Offense vs the Saints Defense:
The Colts will score points on the Saints defense. I think that they will score in the high 20's. The Saints defense do not have any elite players but have been built solid in all area's. Peyton is the Colts offense and is one of the best, if not the best, passing QB's of all time, so they will not shut him down. But all year long the Saints defense has been able to force turnovers and pressure the QB.
I think that the Saints will force one or two turnovers and pressure and hit Peyton enough that it will wear on him towards the end of the game.
Colts Defense vs the Saints Offense:
The Colts defense is better than many of us give credit. But they will not be facing Mark Sanchez, Jim Flacco, or Rex Grossman. Drew Brees is one of the top 5 QB's in the NFL. The Saints can match the Colts offensive weapons at every position. I think Thomas and Bush are the type of RB's that can hurt the Colts. The Saints should score in the 30's against the Colts defense.
Special Teams:
This is where the Saints have a huge advantage. I'm not predicting any ST's scores but they will give the Saints field good position. It would not surprise me if they take KP or punt to the house. The Colts ST's are just average and can give up the big play.
Coaching:
Sean Payton will be viewed as one of the top coaches in the NFL after this game. With 2 weeks to prepare, I think he puts together a winning game plan for the Saints. This is not a slight to Caldwell, Tom Moore, or any of he Colts coaches, I just think the Saints staff is better.
Intangibles:
The Saints did not play their best game last week against the Vikes and are lucky to be here. However, I think they will play their best game against the Colts and seem to be a team of destiny. Also, I think they are a better team to play outdoors should there be wind or rain Sunday.
OK, tell me if you think I'm wrong about any of this without hurting my feelings.
