Rotoworld posted something about Schefter saying this could be Warners last game as a Cardinal because they havent made any progress in contract talks and there probably unwilling to sign him long term for big money. Then rotoworld mentions how only Matt Cassel, who is more then likely to be franchised will be a more desireable free agent QB.

The Pats atleast gotta get a 2nd for the guy a 3rd just wouldnt seem enough to me.

they have matt leinart

Yeah, I couldn't imagine they'd give up on him already. I think they'd give him a shot next year if Warner parted ways.

Leinart hasnt proven anything his entire stay with AZ, Cassel has with excallent results. How funny would it be if Cassel is the starting qb for the Cardinals while Leinart backs him up lol...

he'd be fun in their offense.... but there would be problems im sure behind the scenes with immature lionheart having his College backup starting over him in the pros.

Allow me to be the first person to actually GET what the OP is saying. He's saying within the rotoworld report mentioning Kurt Warner is an acknowledgment that Matt Cassel would be a more desirable available QB than Warner, and that in fact MC would be the MOST desirable of the available QB's.

The OP was not saying Cassel would go to the Cardinals. Nothing about that.

He'd probably be too tanked to realize that though.

well if anything, it hopefully will drive up the price on Cassel by getting another contender in there. I think Cassel is worth a 1st since it's a weak QB draft (hopefully) and even if it was a decent one, he's no longer held hostage to his college resume since he's proven he can get it done in the pros at a high level. The Lions are obviously a very stupid franchise, and while I want Cassel to succeed, the selfish Pats fan in me thinks the possibility of getting the 1st overall pick is too sexy to pass up. So with my appreciation of Cassel aside, I hope he goes to the worst possible team from this year.

I think we've known that Cassel is better than Warner all along. I don't need rotoworld to say that.

whose to say warner won't retire?

maybe warner will go to the Jets

I don't think Cassel is better than Warner. He is younger though which is what makes him a better option at this point.

Keegs

That's really funny!!!!

I don't know about Lienart.

The current staff didn't draft him. With a questionable work ethic they might ship him out. Having an open competition in 2008 certainly shows no inherent loyalty. Besides, MC has the advantage of being a PROVEN NFL commodity.

A good way to find out is if their is any trade interest in Lienart. If nobody wants him, why would Arizona?

Exactly. Leinart's college acumen is completely irrelevant at this point, as is any NFL player. That is the best deciding info teams have to go on when initially drafting a player, but once there is a disparity in the level of play and decision making they exhibit in the pros that goes out the window. I'd even go as far as to say that the Bengals would prefer Cassel over Palmer at this point (even though they won't have that option), and there isn't a GM in the league who'd rather have Leinart than Cassel next year.

Cassel doesn't turn the ball over as much as Warner. When warner is bad he is bad.

Cassel can play in the snow. Warner can't.

At this point Cassel is the hotter commodity.

you get warner, will you build your franchise around him? he's a stop gap measure

I agree Cassel is worth more because of age, but the Cardinals don't give a damn about getting a QB that can play in the snow. I think you're shortchanging Warner a bit, the guy's had a very impressive career, and in his prime, even in the second half of last year (2007), Warner has shown more than what Cassel has shown thus far. That doesn't mean that Cassel won't be better, and he is the better option for a team looking to build for the future, but I'd still say Warner is better even now than Cassel. I know I'll get reamed for this on this board, but I do think there is something to the argument that Cassel has benefited greatly from Moss, Welker and Belichik.

And Warner's career resurrection has not benefitted from Boldin and Fitzgerald?

THIS IS NOT THE POINT OF MY POST. The point is, everyone seems to be saying that the OP meant the Cardinals would have an interest in Cassel. They don't.

Let's all try reading, okay?

Re: Schefter: Saturdays WC game could be Warner's last game as a Cardinal (pats relat

Okay, that's it. This thread is driving me insane.

Guys...

The point of the thread is what was IN the rotoworld report. NO ONE is saying Cassel would go to the Cardinals. Your opinions on Cassel compared to Warner or Leinart have literally NOTHING to do with anything in this thread, except for the fact that you've all misunderstood and now hijacked it.

Good grief.

Dudes

This thread is legit.

Schefter says Warner will not be back to Arizona

We are speculating where and for what we can get for MC.

I see nothing wrong with speculating what and where MC will land and the pros/cons of Arizona.

It beats watching uninteresting NFL playoff football. Since "spygate" I find non Pats football boring and watch AFC North football as a matter of duty to educate the masses here.

Let's just enjoy speculating what's going to happen.

Nah, there is so much more interesting stuff to talk about what with us being in the playoffs and all. Oh, wait...
