Webster returns, Crable to IR

How the hell did he get hurt? He didn't even play ONE snap in the defense.

Not bad news, it suggests that Wheatley may be out for a while but not a season ender.
TRUE....we will find out how bad he is (roughly) today...my guess is he ends up in the Injury report... Crable was not getting better..and even if he did..he was not having a LOT of PT...A good move...Webster will add some vet experience..HE MAY have stayed if he wasn't hurt in TC..and it became a numbers game.

I’m a big Crable fan, he’s got a lot of potential, guess we’ll have to wait till next year

Don't give up on Crable this early. Vern Gholston hasn't made any

impact with the Jets and he was drafted #6. I expect either Crable

or Redd will be seeing playing time next year spelling Vrabel.

I am not giving up or anything but IR players cannot pratice or train with the team.next preseason with a year praticiing under his belt and the 6 6 ,270+ frame redd will be in a better position. he is AD size and will get bigger as he very young and a year of good food, training along with praticiing with the team in the scout team is going to get him better prepared.

this year woods has stepped up and if redd is the other guy who really do not have space for another 5th OLB .ILB is different as their one more opening even with guyton and mayo in their so rudd actually has a better chance as he came out of college as a better run stuffing MLB which is what a SLB is in the middle. He slow aka bru but his strength at contact enabled him to get better leverage on gaurds.

One more thing how many times have we seen crabel get the black jersey for pratice player of the week. ithink redd already did that and has a chance to be more noticed.

Pioli has his list. I think that either or both Wheatley and Alexander could be put on the IR if we needed a roster spot. Me, I'd bring up Redd from the Practice Squad to help out on Special Teams.

I have a hunch Wheatley is in bad shape, too, but they won't totally show their hand. Are they watching to see if D. Hall clears waivers? It would be madness to take that injury clause on, but if he clears waivers, they might get him for cheap and he could be dumped at the first sign of trouble.

I can't imagine, the way things are shaping up, that we'll add any more LB's if another spot opens up, so I'd expect a Corner comes in if Wheatley hits IR.

There is an open spot if Crable played special teams.

Was Fernando Bryant signed to another team? or did he suck more than Webster in TC?

You thought right. Crable is going to be awesome, especially after a year working out.

A IR player cannot pratice or workout with the team. if it does happen for another first rounder penalty and a big fine.

Practice, no - but workout? Crable will be allowed to lift, train, and rehab his injury with the team training staff. All that stuff will still be available to him.

Crable can still bulk up, as well as learn and watch film while on IR, basically, he can benefit from the team during the time while he's on IR - the rules are in place so that the team cannot benefit from him during that time.

Crable needs to have an operation on his legs as in muscle transplants :D - My ex-wife had larger lower legs that he does....

Yah, you know those girly mon skinny legs did him in.

This was a move to clear a 53 roster spot in an area where we're strong (LB) so that we could beef up even temporarily an area of injury weakness. The Crab wasn't gonna see significant PT so why not better utilize the 53? He's gotten exposure to the team and its philosophy, now let him 'pump himself up' before 2009 camp.

Agreed, and though I'm disappointed we won't get to see him I think it's a good move by BB.

Crable obviously wasn't going to see any playing time this year, so IR'ing him with a hangnail or whatever he has isn't a bad idea. Webster has already spent some time with the Pats so his learning curve's a bit shorter. Wasn't he with Buffalo last year?

Looks like Wheatley's got arm/wrist problems according to Reiss. No practice today and had his arm tucked into his jacket.:(

Crable has not played much special teams, if any, because he has mostly been inactive.

So zero loss at this point.

If the Pats need a rushing OLB, they have Redd on PS and can elevate him. In the meantime, Woods clearly outplayed Crable, given his opportunity to start all training camp during Vrabel's absence.

Welcome back Webster. I was surprised he was released. He brings some knowledge of the defense, given his two months this summer, and obviously some knowledge of the team he will be defending this weekend. He can't offer less than Wheatley right now.

Yes, but as someone pointed out earlier, they needed to release someone and they chose to put Crable on IR instead of Wheatley. They did this after the medical tests came back on Wheatley. So I read that as good news.

I hope you're right-it definitely makes sense.

They listed his injury as a 'shin.' The only thing I can think of is a Tibial fracture. Is it legal to IR someone with a minor injury just to open a roster spot?

Tough to read this as good or bad news. Good news is Wheatley wasn't IR'ed. Bad news is bringing another CB in is most likely not a good indication of his health.

Wow, talk about bad luck with injuries. But things like this happen. What can I say, Crable had potential but he wasn't getting on the field as much as guys like Guyton and BJGE even before this happened, right? Come back stronger next year, Crable.
