In today's NFL, there are few times when teams really have a tough schedule, especially if you play in a division that doesn't yield several playoff teams.

Pats didn't exactly have a tough schedule this year either. Had they taken care of Arizona at home (5-11 Arizona). They would have finished 13-3 and gotten the #1 seed just like Denver, and the Pats wouldn't have needed to win a single difficult game on the road. Pats also got to play both Houston and Denver in Foxboro, so they had a schedule advantage regarding tiebreakers. Broncos took care of business, and you need to give them credit.

Even if the Pats had won the SB last year, something still felt like it was missing. They need to win one of these brutal road matchups to really graduate into being a true championship team. If they end up going to Denver, that is the type of game that can springboard them into their next championship era, and there's no doubt it would also make them much better if they make the SB.

It won't be easy, but teams like the Ravens and Jets in recent years have come into Foxboro and played their tails off. It would be nice to see the Pats do that for once.

:When you lose 4 games by a total of 11 points and you only needed to win one more to get the #1 seed, there are a myriad number of "what ifs" that arise.

But I agree, if we are truly Superbowl worthy, playing a tough game against a good opponent in Denver, shouldn't be a fear, but rather a challenge. I think this team has the mental toughness to overcome that challengel

I used to call him goober too. No more. He is not only a not-goober, he has proven himself to be worthy of the Mount Rushmore of the NF of effing L. He has made it across a bed of hot coals and has forged a cast iron will to win. If Tom doesn't have his best game against "goober" then the defense could have a tough night in the altitude during a fourth quarter comeback.

Would love to see Denver to handle their business... and us too, of course... and then beat goober in his new mile-high digs.
I'd much rather watch the fivehead implode in another wild card game.

I think the last game vs Miami showed that an attacking D is better than the "prevent" D. Let's hope Patricia and BB saw the light.

I'd be thrilled if we never had to play another Manning ever again.

He's had yet another stellar regular season, I'll go that far for now. Playoffs are another matter altogether. Brady and Manning both have a chance to get that big game quarterback groove back...though Manning never had much of one in his career anyway.

The odds are stacked against the Broncos to win it all. I went back 15 years and the only team that had a 10 game or more winning streak going into the play-offs and come away with the Lombardi was the 2003 Patriots, and almost all of the eventual champs had a loss in the final month of the season. The NFL is simply too good for teams to go on 3 month runs and win it all. it is possible, but the odds are definitely against them.
