Pats didn't exactly have a tough schedule this year either. Had they taken care of Arizona at home (5-11 Arizona). They would have finished 13-3 and gotten the #1 seed just like Denver, and the Pats wouldn't have needed to win a single difficult game on the road. Pats also got to play both Houston and Denver in Foxboro, so they had a schedule advantage regarding tiebreakers. Broncos took care of business, and you need to give them credit.
Even if the Pats had won the SB last year, something still felt like it was missing. They need to win one of these brutal road matchups to really graduate into being a true championship team. If they end up going to Denver, that is the type of game that can springboard them into their next championship era, and there's no doubt it would also make them much better if they make the SB.
It won't be easy, but teams like the Ravens and Jets in recent years have come into Foxboro and played their tails off. It would be nice to see the Pats do that for once.

:When you lose 4 games by a total of 11 points and you only needed to win one more to get the #1 seed, there are a myriad number of "what ifs" that arise.
But I agree, if we are truly Superbowl worthy, playing a tough game against a good opponent in Denver, shouldn't be a fear, but rather a challenge. I think this team has the mental toughness to overcome that challengel
