Default So where all the "Fire Francona" people at?

A little over 6 months ago, many in this forum were calling for Francona to be fired. I said that would be a mistake. Francona was a great manager who did a great job at keeping stupid little things out of the media spotlight.

Given what we've seen from this abysmal collection of professional athletes over the past 6 weeks, Francona is looking more and more like Casey Stengel each and every day.

I sure hope you "fire Francona" people are happy with what we have here and now. Great improvement, fellas. Maybe you should call for Belichick to be fired next. After all, his championship drought is the longest in the city.

We can all thank god the triumvirate of Luchino/Werner/Henry don't run the Patriots.

Then again, I am willing to bet you Bill would never work for these type of puppet masters

If you think Francona would make much difference with this squad then you're sorely mistake. Francona was part of the staff that lead to this current predicament.

i loved tito and wish he was still here but bobby v has nothing to do with this mess of a baseball team. i actually think he would be a decent manager if he had the support of the gm and the front office. on the bright side beckett gives up 7 runs in less than 3 innings and is booed big time coming out of the game. i love it.

Not here. I thought it was pretty stupid to fire one of the best and most successful managers we've ever had. But hey, it netted us the great Bobby V!

Francona, Epstein and ownership were part of the problem that created the Red Sox issues. Two factors of the equation have been removed. In the future, if the Red Sox continue to slide into mediocrity, then firing Francona may be assessed in its entirety then.

As it stands, the Sox need a fresh outlook. Whether Cherrington and Valentine are capable of doing that under current ownership is a different discussion.

I'm going to miss Tito wandering out in his PJ's to make pitching changes. This is all Epstein though. These are all his guys. Managers are just babysitters these days.

I am starting to remember why I stopped reading baseball forums and paying attention to other Red Sox fans. The sense of entitlement is far more intense (and sad) than any Pats discussion short of the "I can boo because I bought a ticket" discussion.

I think there's a little bit more to managing a MLB team than babysitting. I am not be sarcastic. In-game strategies, pitch outs, hit and runs, sacrifices, ect. are on the manager, I would wager. Has far has any manager wielding the clout that Belichick does, I would agree with your statement 100%. They are certainly not the bosses they may have once been. At least in Boston, where Bobby V has been de-balled into a Muppet.

I loved Tito too but he was burnt out and it was time for him to go, they blew that big lead in September last year under his watch dont forget and a lot of the salary problems Ben has are because of Theo. Its going to take 2-3 years before we can assess how Ben is as a GM.
Not sure why you guys are dissing these owners, didnt they own the team in 2004 and 2007?
