Default Remember When Frank McCourt Wanted the Red Sox?

I was thinking about that as i read the ESPN piece on him. How lucky were we that the team was sold to the right people - remember they thought John Henry and company would pilfer the team?

McCourt to bid for Red Sox By Meg Vaillancourt, Globe Staff, 8/2/2001
outh Boston developer Frank McCourt, who has been touting his waterfront property as a possible site for a new Fenway Park, is entering the bidding war for the Boston Red Sox.

McCourt, whose family once owned a piece of the Boston Braves, declined to say whether he has partners in his quest to purchase the Red Sox.

However, the 47-year-old McCourt said yesterday that he'd like to become the controlling partner of the team and use 10 of the roughly 25 acres of waterfront land he owns in South Boston to build a new ballpark.

Los Angeles Dodgers now in Chapter 11 Land - ESPN

Not so long ago, the Los Angeles Dodgers were one of the sports cosmos' most exalted franchises. Now, they're like some kind of reality show gone bad.
The thought of this team -- THE DODGERS -- in bankruptcy court was once an unthinkable embarrassment. But we're long past that stage. Now this twist in the plot line fits right into the pitiful descent of the franchise in the Frank McCourt era.

People kept asking the same question Monday, as news of the Dodgers' journey into Chapter 11 Land began to spread: What does THIS mean?

Actually I feel kind of bad for the guy. His wife is shameless, was a terrible CEO, and basically looted him and the Dodgers for many many years.

it could have been us yes and im glad we got the owners we did. but frank mcourts plan of a brand new ball park in southie on the land he owns on the water front sounds awesome to me. im not a fenway guy. i think the place is a dump. nice to look at on tv and the place is electric. but imo its time for a new place.
