Default Pats and Red Sox Fans

I posted a poll asking if most Pats fans were also Red Sox fans. It went over as well as a bull in a china shop. First, it got moved to the Red Sox forum and then I get slammed and accused of being a troll. What gives? Is that not a legitimate poll questions. I wanted to get an idea how many people rooted for the Pats and Sox. I assume most Boston area fans root for both. But, what about the others?

There's some kind of weird hatred towards the Sox on this site. I think it comes from the Connecticut yuppies that chose the Yankees as their team in the late 90's when they were great but didn't have a football team to supprot until the Pats started tearing it up. There's also some who like only the NFL and get mad that the Sox have dominated Boston sports despite not having quite as much success as the Pats in recent years, but fail to recognize the more storied history of the Sox and their role in building the Boston sports psyche. What I don't understand is why everyone can't realize that we have room for all of our great teams and that the unbelievable success of all our teams as of late is something to celebrate. I love Boston and we shouldn't have to pick one team and compete against the others for sports monopoly. But I guess it's a pretty nice problem to have....

I, and many folks on this website, LOVE the Red Sox. So much so, in fact, that we have a special Red Sox forum for threads regarding our favorite baseball team.

Mention the word red sox in a thread and it gets moved to the Red Sox forum. Perhaps, I should post the poll in the Red Sox forum. Maybe it will get moved to the Pats forum.

The moderator of the Pats forum must be a Yankees fan. He won't let me pose my question to Pats fans.

I understand this completely, and I figured it out very early on. But why can't questions/posts dealing with the crossover, or the nature of having two (or more) great franchises at the same time be in the Pats forum. I mean it's not exclusively Red Sox material either. If I ask a Pats question in the Red Sox forum that deals with the simultaneous greatness of the two will it be moved back to the Pats forum?

I can understand both your and Allbosfans' feelings on this. However, it may be useful for you two folks to understand that we have had these threads over there the past 4+ years here. People have contacted us saying that they are tired of the same old threads about the Red Sox and who is or isn't rooting for them. You may not have known that, and it's understandable seeing that you each came on board here within the past few weeks.

I understand. No reason to beat a dead horse. I was just trying to get an idea on how many Pats fans were/weren't Red Sox fans.
