Default Hanley Ramirez Trade Opinons

While the trade appears to be dead or a rumor ... just curious anyways.

What would you have made of the trade of Ramirez for Clay and Jacoby?

What is the Sox had to throw in another player ... say Mike Bowden?

I know it's a dead deal but I would throw in a 3rd player ... Hanley is worth an overpay.

Jacoby is showing a lot of promise, no way we let go of him.

I'd give up Ellsbury and two top prospects in a second. Ramirez is that good. He's young and signed for pretty cheap through 2012. He'd be a monster in the middle of our lineup. The only downside is he'd either play short or center and our middle defense would suffer.

Also if Theo was around he never would have traded him in the first place. He loves this kid.

Bucholz & Ellsbury would be about half of what it would take to aquire Ramirez from the Marlins. Add in Lars Anderson, with a 4th piece, and you might get a deal done. Ramirez is simply too good, and his contract is extremely favorable. Just look at his stat line at age 24: .300 BA, .400 OBP, 92 walks, 35 steals (has stolen 50 twice already), 146 OPS+, 33 Homers, 125 runs, .540 slg%, and a .940 OPS. The kid is an absolute beast. It will take a randsom to aquire him, since Florida has no reason to trade him at all.

Buck, Ellsbury, Bowden and another lower prospect might make the Marlins part with Ramirez. I don't think the Sox would part would Anderson because they are going to need him very soon.

I don't think a deal gets done. The Marlins aren't in a hurry to trade him this season and the Sox won't be the only ones interested.

I know this and agree. I'm just stating how much Theo likes this kid and might be willing to pay out the butt for him.
